(DAMBULLA, Sri Lanka) - The only way to win one’s demands in Sri Lanka right now is to engage in protest campaigns, according to Chief Incumbent of the Rangiri Dambulla Raja Maha Viharaya, Ven. Inamaluwe Sri Sumangala Thera.

Sumangala Thera added he did not believe the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC), which has come out against any plans to relocate the mosque, had the power to change the government’s stand on the issue.

“They have made various statements, but it was the Prime Minister and minister of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs who said the mosque was an illegal structure and would be removed. What right does the SLMC hold to dispute what was said by the PM?” he queried. He claimed he was confident the government would honor its promise to relocate the Mosque. The monk answered the woman with dismissive arrogance, threatening to destroy ‘unauthorised’ dwellings (including hers) and telling her to take her god and go elsewhere. Then he made a comment which can be roughly translated as “Hell, crows are not just flying over our heads; they are trying to build nests” (“Yakko, me kakko oluwa udin yanawa witharak nevei kuudu wennath hadanawane”- Sirasa News First

Would you write this report if the attacker were Muslim and attack a Synagogue or a Church? Probably not. Maybe these attackers are tired of the Muslims?
