Suspects Sought After Police Chase in Rural Marion County

The last public information about the two suspects came when they were seen near the 17000 Block of Abiqua Road NE at around 10:00 p.m.

(SILVERTON, Ore. ) - A search is underway in rural Marion County Monday, after a man and woman fled following a pursuit outside of Silverton.

Marion County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sergeant Jeff Stutrud says deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on Evans Valley Road just after 5:00 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle was a grey Ford Ranger pick-up. The vehicle failed to stop, and was occupied by a white male adult driver and a white female adult passenger.

Deputies initial reason to stop the vehicle was reckless driving where the truck almost caused an accident. The driver continued to drive with deputies following to Forest Ridge Road and ultimately drove down a gravel access road near the 17500 Block of Powers Creek Loop. Deputies set a perimeter and deployed police canines into the area to track the suspects.

The search area was in rural forest land, and the terrain is steep with thick underbrush Stutrud said. He added that deputies tracked the suspects northeast for approximately four miles and ended up near Abiqua Road NE.

The last public information about the two suspects came when they were seen near the 17000 Block of Abiqua Road NE at around 10:00 p.m.

The suspects who are described as a white male, long brown hair with a medium build and unknown age. The female is described as a white female, long brown hair wearing a backpack.

Stutrud says they have no information to believe that the suspect pose any threat to the general public.

Citizens in rural Marion County are urged to call Marion County Dispatch at 503-588-5032 if you see the suspects, or any kind of suspicious activity in the area that might be related to this case.
