(SALEM, Ore. ) - The Marion County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a suspect who stole a vehicle from home around 3:00 p.m. on Monday.

Marion County Sheriff's spokesman Sergeant Chris Baldridge says residents near Seminole Road NE and Mustang Road NE interrupted a burglary of their residence. The suspect, described as a white, male adult, in his 40's with shaggy hair, black pants and no shirt, fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.

A short time later the vehicle was located in the 2500 block of Drift Creek Road NE and chased into a nearby Christmas tree farm. The male abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled on foot.

At this point, deputies believe when the man fled he may have been armed with a shotgun. Due to the rural nature and the location the suspect fled deputies are not tracking the suspect, Baldridge said.

Deputies are asking that if anyone sees the suspect to please call 9-1-1.
