Reverend Benny & Mister Sid's At Your Service #49

The forty-ninth installment of Reverend Benny & Mister Sid's At Your Service, Salem's original cartoon series.

Benny and Sid #49
By Glen Bledsoe

(SALEM, Ore.) - Summer is here. That's great news. I love the look of lush trees, the feel of the heat of the sun, that sense of freedom that summer brings to school children. I'm old enough that the sights, sounds and smells of summer trigger memories of when I was a kid with a tantalizing clarity.

Sometimes during the transition between spring and summer I feel as if I can just peek under the thin veneer of reality and see what the world really is. Maybe I do this in my dreams and just don't remember. If I ever sort it out, you will be the first to hear of it. Promise.

Last summer saw the end of Nota Bene with the 100th installment and the birth of Benny & Sid.

This is Reverend Benny and Mr. Sid #49 and inasmuch as there are 52 weeks in a year we must be approaching the one year anniversary. A lot has happened in the last year.

A lot more has happened since I first approached Tim with the idea of doing a comic for Salem-News.com. Thanks to you who've followed this strip regularly. The best is yet to come. Promise.

May your summers be long.

Why isn't this being discussed more? We talk about their inequity in election counts while we put up with it twice under Bush. Thanks for this awesome analogy!
