(DHAKA- Bangladesh) -
Since 1973, 140 persons—have been released from death row, after it was proven that they were in fact innocent of the crimes they were convicted of.
Some of the referenced prisoners were within days of being executed, and five of the 140 were in the state of Alabama. Alabama greatly risks taking the life of one of its own citizens for a crime he did not commit.

Human Experiments: Outsourcing Tuskegee

(WASHINGTON D.C.) -
A new report details human experiments led by US researchers and drug companies on Africans who are typically undereducated, poor, and lack full understanding of their rights. The human subjects often are led to believe that they are receiving medical treatment from governmental health services or health ministries.
The report is titled “Non-Consensual Research in Africa: The Outsourcing of Tuskegee” in reference to the illegal human experiment conducted in Tuskegee, Alabama, on some 600 impoverished African-American men.

Wind energy is more affordable than ever, and new installations across the country are saving consumers money on their electric bills, as utilities rush to lock in long-term favorable rates.
“This is what a successful business looks like with stable tax policy. Utilities are locking in a great deal for their electric customers while it’s available. We’re keeping rates down all across the U.S., even in the heart of the South,” said Denise Bode, CEO of the American Wind Energy Association.

Darwinism versus creationism became a campaign issue in the Alabama GOP nomination for governor.
A conservative political action committee (PAC) called “True Republican” put out a television ad denouncing Bradley Byrne, who is seeking the GOP nomination for Governor, for saying that he believes in evolution and that the bible is “only partially true.”

University of Alabama Shooting Leaves Several Dead

This is only the latest tragic school shooting to take place in the United States. It may however be very unique if it is determined that the female shooter is a staff member.
(HUNTSVILLE, Ala.) -
Three people are confirmed to be dead at the University of Alabama, after a shooting that happened just after 4:05 today. Police say a suspect is in custody. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the shooter is a staff member of the school.
That word came from a local television station, WAFF; they quoted a police official saying they believed the shooter was a female staff member.

After a year under wraps, Alabama cops hand over tape showing officers beating accident victim who gave chase.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
Police in Hoover, Alabama, near Birmingham, have released a videotape showing five officers beating an unconscious man who crashed his vehicle while being chased by police.
The pursuit, beating and arrest of suspect, 38-year old Anthony Shannon Warren in March 2008, actually led to the firing of four white officers and one black officer; the ones shown in the video.
