Canby Rodeo Court Tryouts - Royals Crowned

(CANBY, Ore.) - On Saturday, ten talented horsewomen tested their skills in an effort to be crowned part of the 2011 Canby Rodeo Court. Over 40 spectators came out to watch these lovely ladies give speeches, answer interview questions, and display their horsemanship skills via a reining pattern, an arena queen run, and flag carrying.

This year's Royal Rodeo Court will consist of Queen Kelsey Downs of Canby, Princess Kelsey Schuetz of Mulino, and Princess Haley Marsh of Milwaukie. The first runner up is Brittnie Gartner of Newberg.

Parking at the fair was free this year, helping offset the costs for families who visited from all over Oregon and beyond. Most of all the fair is about kids. And every age every size, and every type made it and had a fantastic time enjoying the many things to see and do.

2009 Oregon State Fair Opens Amidst Rainclouds and Sunny Speech From Governor

(SALEM, Ore.) - The weather didn't dampen spirits on opening day of the Oregon State Fair 2009. Governor Kulongoski made light of the liquid sunshine, a tradition for most Oregon events.

"No place else in the United States could you open a state fair during the summer months... and we'd be in raincoats! Come on, this is what it is like on the Fourth of July, it never changes, it is just who we are."

Between August 28th and September 7th: the State Fairgrounds in Salem will become Oregon’s second largest city.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon’s biggest event of the year is getting set to open its gates at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28th.

This year its guests – expected to exceed 380,000 in number – will experience a fair that’s BIGGER than ever, with new events and activities, plus all of the traditional favorites.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem, Oregon's Farmers Markets are in full swing, providing business opportunities for local agriculturists and great shopping for local residents and visitors. The event's Day Market Coordinator Tina Miller says there are many reasons the events are doing so well.

The market runs from April through October. the Saturday market runs from 9 to 3 every Saturday, and our Wednesday market runs from 10 to 2, and that's located between Liberty and High Streets.
