New Information on Lincoln Police Officer Shooting Suspect Released

Suspect David Anthony Durham is described as a white male, 6'3", 160 - 185 pounds, with long brown hair and blue eyes.
(WALDPORT) -
Details are being released in the ongoing search for the man who shot a police officer on the Oregon coast Sunday night.
43-year old David Anthony Durham is accused of shooting of Lincoln City Police Officer Steven B. Dodds, who remains in critical condition.

Oregon Big-Wave Crew Charges Into 2011

Dialing into some of Oregon's biggest, coldest, and most incredible waves...
(NELSCOTT REEF, Ore.) -
The first week of 2011 was an amazing start with surf ranging from 10'-20'. Having spent two weeks in Santa Barbara for Christmas without any surf, made it real easy to come back to Oregon for a week of freezing cold conditions with giant clean surf.
Joining myself for the entire week of amazing surf were several locals; It was the biggest paddle session for the local crew by far and they were stoked to be charging it.

Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce to Offer Internet Marketing Classes

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) -
The Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce, in an effort to continue to support and enhance members businesses, will be offering six (6) free internet marketing classes in 2011. The classes will cover Facebook; Twitter; Two-way communications through social networking; Marketing your business through social networks; and advanced Google tools.
These classes will take place on Wednesdays January 19th, 26th, and February 2nd, 2011 from 5:30pm to 8:50pm in the Community Room at the Oregon Coast Community College located at 3788 SE High School Drive, Lincoln City. These classes, valued at $180.00, will be offered free of charge to chamber members. Space is limited and will be on a first-come/first-served basis so it is recommended to reserve your spot early.

When you think of the Pacific Northwest surf scene, the thoughts that come to mind are; freezing cold waters, unpredictable and extreme weather conditions, dense coastal fog, huge tide changes, heavy rip currents, unfriendly ocean life and lots of driving.
This is why when it gets really big there are usually only a handful of local big-wave surfers in the water.

Man Drowns Trying to Save Dog at Lincoln City Beach

Huge waves always make the Oregon coast dangerous.
(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) -
Police on the Oregon coast say a 72-year old Lake Oswego man died Sunday morning after he was swept out into the ocean while trying to rescue his dog off a Lincoln City-area beach.
Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings says troopers from the Newport Area Command office are completing the investigation. This afternoon Hastings stated that the victim is Richard "Bill" William Davis.

Shooting Leads to Murder and Arrests in Lincoln City

Two juveniles were arrested for Murder, Attempted Murder, first-degree Assault and first-degree Criminal Mischief, an adult is charged with Conspiracy to Commit Murder.
(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) -
Lincoln City was the scene of a murder and series of arrests over the weekend, the final suspect was taken into custody early this morning.
Lt Jerry Palmer with Lincoln City Police, says it began with a shooting near Taft High School, at the Ridge Apartment Complex off of Highway 101 in the south part of the coastal city.

Footage of a California big wave surfer riding a gigantic Oregon reef wave last October has been entered in the Ride of the Year Category for The 10th Annual Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards.
I shot the footage of Camarillo, California Eric Akiskalian last October during the Nelscott Reef Tow-In Classic that is held each year by Oregon surfers John Forse and Adam Wagner. Eric and his tow-in partner Keith Galbraith were towsurfing giant waves at South Reef, adjacent to the contest location the entire afternoon and they were riding some of the biggest waves ever ridden along Oregon’s coast.
