One Person Dies in Crash Near Rickreall

Anyone planning to use the road may want to consider an alternate route.

(RICKREALL, Ore.) - Fatal crash Oregon State Police troopers are on the scene of a fatal traffic crash in the 10700 block of Highway 223 west of Highway 99W in Polk County.

They say there is one confirmed victim and the highway is reportedly blocked, according to officials with the Oregon Department of Transportation.

A documentary featuring Tim's work in Iraq is tentatively scheduled to air on Oregon Public Broadcasting.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Tim King Our coverage of the war in Iraq is set to begin in early April and the last weeks stateside are busy at Salem-News.com. I want to give our viewers a concise idea of what to expect when I am over there, and of course I am always open to suggestions on new story ideas.

I will be traveling to Iraq with Evergreen Aviation out of McMinnville, Oregon. The units I will embed with are primarily out of Salem.

Elderly Rickreall Man Killed in Friday Morning Crash

Oregon State Police troopers from the Salem Area Command office are continuing the investigation.

(DALLAS, Ore.) - fatal crash An elderly Rickreall-area man died and two other people were injured Friday morning during a two-vehicle crash on Highway 223 at the intersection with Rickreall Road about three miles east of Dallas.

Police say that at approximately 8:00 AM, a 2000 Ford Focus driven by 81-year old Patrick Mason Shellito of Rickreall, was stopped on Rickreall Road at a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 223.

Inside Job Determined in Ag West Burglary

Two of the suspects had been fired within the last month, the third quit on Saturday

(RICKREALL) - Ag West When the operators of Ag West showed up for work on Monday morning, November 6th, they found the business was burglarized sometime over night. The Polk County Sheriffs’ Office was immediately notified and began investigating the burglary as a possible “inside” job as a business key was used to unlock the door and the alarm had been turned off with the correct code.

During the investigation, the detectives interviewed current and past employees and ended up arresting four male suspects in connection to this burglary.

Three of the suspects were ex-employees of Ag West.

ODOT to Host Ceremony for Rickreall Interchange

The community is invited to attend the Tuesday afternoon event, which will be held rain or shine.

(RICKREALL) - Rickreall interchange from the air The Oregon Department of Transportation will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 17th at 1:00 PM to celebrate the nearly completed Rickreall Interchange. The ceremony will be held at the Rickreall Fire Department, on the corner of Church St. and Oregon 99W in Rickreall.

Construction of the new Rickreall Interchange Project is making progress, and is scheduled to be completed on time in December.

The $16.2 million project includes construction of a bridge on Highway 99W that crosses Highway 22, and a bridge that takes eastbound Highway 22 traffic over Highway 223.

`06 Wine Harvest in Willamette Valley Having a Fantastic Year

Local Winery Eola Hills in Rickreall, just west of Salem, is having a banner year for two kinds of grapes.

(RICKREALL) - The year 2006 will be remembered as an excellent harvest year for certain grapes in the Mid-Willamette Valley according to the experts at the Eola Hills Winery in Rickreall.

Yields are up by almost 50% when it comes to Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir.

Steve Anderson of Eola Hills said that the fruit looks delicious and tastes especially delicious. "We picked a bunch of Pinot Gris for the tasting room. The grapes are sweet and juicy, almost falling off the bunches as we pick."

Bike Oregon Wine Country While Helping Local Schools

(RICKREALL) - The people who run Eola Hills Winery in Rickreall have several fun bicycle trips planned for Willamette Valley fans this summer.

The winery`s Eric Rogers says it is a fun and healthy way to enjoy the natural area, while sampling some of the valley`s finest wines, `Being avid cyclist ourselves, we decided to organize a bike tour in the mid 90's. That ride has now evolved into `Bike Oregon Wine Country.``

When people join in the Eola Hills Wine Cellars for the premier bicycle tour through Oregon Wine Country, they benefit area kids, `For every purchase of Eola Hills Wine, a donation will be made to support Oregon schools through Eola Hills' Oregon Education Assistance Fund.`
