Fire Consumes California Semi Trailer on Oregon Freeway Near Albany

Nobody was hurt when the trailer erupted in flames. Tangent Firefighter Dennis Weis captured the fire in a dramatic series of photographs.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Burning semi on I-5 in Oregon 8-14-7 by Dennis Weis Fire Departments from Tangent and Albany responded to a semi-trailer fire last night around 8:30 PM. The intense fire ultimately closed the northbound lanes of I-5 just south of Albany at MP 231.

When the 911 call over the truck trailer fire came in to the OSP Dispatch Center in Albany, it was reported that the fire may have started when the trailer's rear tandem brakes overheated.

Oregon Police Seek Man Over Homicide Involving Deputy

(GERVAIS, Ore.) - Alfredo De Jesus–Ascencio, suspect in vehicle homicide involving Oregon deputy June 16th, 2007 Police and prosecutors are asking for the public's assistance in locating a Woodburn man wanted on homicide charges related to a June 16th fatal motor vehicle crash on Highway 99E near Gervais.

The two-vehicle crash resulted in the death of two people, Marion County Sheriff's Deputy Kelly Fredenburg and Oscar Oscencio-Amaya.

Brush Fire East of Jefferson Doubles in Size

The fire's actual location is on an island known as Wiseman Island or Miller Island, is not accessible by vehicle.

(WISEMAN/MILLER ISLAND, Ore.) - Fire east of Jefferson, Oregon, 8-14-07 A brush fire burning on Wiseman/Miller Island on the North Santiam River east of Jefferson and south of the community of Marion was described as "very active today" by the region's Fire District Spokesperson, Elaine Parrott. It is estimated that approximately 100 acres have burned since the fire started on Saturday evening.

Fire district personnel from Jefferson and Stayton were able to get an aerial view of the fire today, she said.

Oregon Coast Man Dies in Crash on Highwy 34

The crash claimed the life of 52-year old Carl John Olson of Waldport.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Crash scene on Highway 34 in Oregon, 8-13-7 Oregon State Police are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash this afternoon on Highway 34 just west of Interstate 5. The victim is reportedly from the Waldport-area and next of kin have been notified. Both vehicles were occupied by fathers from the Waldport area and their adult sons.

OSP Public Information Officer Lieutenant Gregg Hastings, says the crash happened at 12:40 PM, just west of Interstate 5 on Highway 34.

Serious Crash Injured Three Near Molalla

Oregon State Police troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - A Stayton-area woman was seriously injured Sunday morning when the motorcycle she was riding on was struck by a passenger car on Highway 213 about three miles south of Highway 211 junction. Two other people, including her husband who was operating the motorcycle, were injured.

Police say Sunday at approximately 11:30 AM, a 1979 Volkswagon Jetta driven by 22-year old Jennifer L. Hughes of Oregon City, was southbound on Highway 213 near milepost 20 following a pickup.

Fire Explodes Through Salem Home Killing Occupant

"They were greeted by a wall of fire and temperatures way over 1,000 degrees." - Salem Fire Spokesman Bill Holmstrom

(SALEM, Ore.) - Explosion in Salem, Oregon 8-12-07 Salem firefighters were called out to a report of an explosion early this morning at 3:17 AM, at 2200 Lancaster Drive SE in Salem. The resident has since passed away from his injuries.

Fire Department Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says that when firefighters arrived on scene, the structure was fully involved with fire coming out of the majority of the structure.

No Sign of Utah Miners From Second Drilling

Officials say the miners could potentially hold out for weeks in an underground chamber, providing they survived the initial collapse.

(HUNTINGTON, Utah) - Crandall Canyon Mine Media sources are reporting that a second hole drilled in the area where six miners remain missing in Utah yielded no sign of the missing men.

The men have been trapped since Monday in the Crandall Canyon Mine near Huntington, Utah.

Rescue crews were hoping that they would have heard or seen a sign of the missing men by now.

10 People Safe After Boat Explodes on Willamette River (UPDATED)

5 patients, suffering from minor burns, were sent to area hospitals, treated and released.

(OREGON CITY, Ore. ) - Images of the exploded and sunken boat by the Clackamas Sheriff's Just after midnight Saturday, a 26' cabin cruiser, with 10 passengers aboard, stalled in the middle of the upper Willamette River and exploded approximately one-half mile from the Oregon City falls.

Reportedly, the captain, Ryan Smith, and his passengers, were attempting to restart the engine of this boat while it sat stalled in the middle of the river above the Oregon City falls.

Salem Fire Releases Cause of McMahan`s Furniture Store Blaze (VIDEO)

The building was a landmark for Salem residents. Story includes the original video report as the building burned.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Fire investigators say a massive blaze at the McMahan's Furniture store in Salem, Oregon August 10th of last year was caused by an "electrical system failure of undetermined type."

This determination is officially listed as the most probable cause of the fire, though insurance companies and private fire investigators have now taken possession of the direct evidence to conduct costly, additional testing.
