Four West Salem High School Students Hold Graduation in D.C.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley on Thursday, helped four West Salem high school students celebrate their high school graduation because they will miss their graduation ceremony in Oregon this week.

The students are in Washington, D.C. this week to be recognized as first place winners in the Toshiba/National Science Teachers Association Explora Vision competition.

Salem Child Selected to Go to The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team’s Kids Camp

Annie Flood is one of 20 kids From across America to be coached by Afghanistan & Iraq War Veterans.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Annie Flood from Salem is one of 20 children from across America selected to participate in the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team’s second annual Kids Camp. All the children selected have amputations or are missing limbs.

Flood and the other kids will be coached by members of the WWAST, all veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars who have amputations but have faced and conquered their challenges to athletically compete at a high level.

Manhunt for Armed Suspect in Salem Continues

Police ask the public that if you know the location or see the suspect to call 911.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Police in Salem are still searching for a man that they considered to be armed and dangerous. A woman and child also involved in the incident are fine.

Marion County Sheriff's Deputies were called Tuesday morning to a domestic disturbance call in the 4700 block of Lancaster Drive NE. After speaking with the victim and her child probable cause was developed to arrest the male suspect.

Two Brothers Sought for Salem Armed Robbery

Anyone with information concerning their whereabouts should call 911.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Two brothers, Bryan Gore and Douglas Gore, are wanted in connection with an armed robbery which occurred in Salem on May 28th. Both brothers are from the Grande Ronde area.

Early in the morning of May 28th, a 41-year-old Albany man was lured to a Salem motel with the promise of sex from a woman he had met online.

(JEFFERSON, Ore. ) - The Jefferson Volunteer Fire Association along with Marion County Dog Services will be hosting a Pet Amnesty Day on Saturday, June 7 at the Jefferson Fire Station.

Santiam Equine Clinic will to give low cost vaccinations to your dogs for rabies and other preventable illnesses. The first 250 people will receive a free rabies vaccination.

Plan Now: Oregon State Parks Offer Free Camping This Saturday

According to weather.com on Saturday -- in the Salem and the mid-Willamette Valley -- the high temperature should be in the mid to lower 80's with an overnight low of 55 degrees.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - State parks throughout Oregon will be free of charge this Saturday, June 7, in celebration of State Parks Day.

Camping is free Saturday night in tent and RV sites including full hookup sites which include sewer, electricity, and water. Parking is also free on Saturday at the 26 day-use parks that normally charge a fee.

Salem Honored With Playful City USA Designation

Salem has many volunteer groups who participate in maintaining parks, building playgrounds, and helping to ensure our parks are safe.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - The City of Salem has been honored with a 2014 Playful City USA designation for the first time.

Salem has established programs centered on improving park playgrounds by offering matching grants to neighborhood associations wishing to make park improvements at local parks.
