Thanksgiving Comes One Day Early For Hundreds in Salem (VIDEO)

Salemites are invited to enjoy a hot, homemade Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com "It's a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, dinner rolls and good ole pumpkin pie," says Mike Adams. This dinner will be a welcome sight for about a thousand people in downtown Salem Wednesday evening.

Record numbers of people are in need this year, and many are hungry. Now an ongoing annual event, a group of hard working people have served Thanksgiving dinner in downtown Salem since 2002.

Salem Police say the officer's actions very likely saved the woman's life.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Police Officer Oscar Zambrano A woman was struck by a vehicle last Wednesday on Mission Street, on the bridge over Mill Creek, and propelled over the concrete barrier about 30 feet into the water below.

She was rescued by Salem Police Officer Oscar Zambrano who talked to Salem-News.com about the events that night.

Woman Flies From Bridge Into Mill Creek After Being Struck by Vehicle (VIDEO)

Rescue efforts of Salem Police and Fire recognized as lifesaving.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Salem Police say 48-year old Janice Johnson was struck by a vehicle on Mission Street Wednesday night, on the bridge over Mill Creek.

She was propelled over the concrete barrier about 30 feet into the water below, and was rescued by Salem Police and Fire personnel, according to Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada.

UN Chief Deplores Israel`s Decision to Expand Settlement in East Jerusalem (VIDEO)

The status of Jerusalem remains one of the core issues in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

(JERUSALEM) - Israeli Settlement in the West Bank UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Tuesday deplored Israel's decision to expand Gilo settlement, built on Palestinian territory occupied by Israel in the 1967 war, a statement issued by his spokesperson said.

Reiterating his opposition that "settlements are illegal," Ban called on Israel to respect its commitments under the Road Map to cease all settlement activity, including natural growth.

Marysville Elementary in SE Portland Burns in 3 Alarm Fire (VIDEO & SLIDESHOW)

Firefighters will remain on scene through the night and most of the day tomorrow.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Fire at Marysville School in Portland, Oregon Large portions of the Marysville Elementary School were destroyed in a fire broke out this morning around 11:30 a.m. The school is located at 7733 SE Raymond Street in SE Portland.

Crews from Portland Fire & Rescue responded to the fire and would eventually be assisted by neighboring fire agencies.
