Salem House Was a `Backstop for Bullets` During Sunday Shooting (VIDEO)

Deputies talked to the residents at 4899 Pennsylvania and learned the residence had 10 children and one adult inside of at the time of the shooting.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Marion County Sheriff\'s deputies are investigating a shooting that occurred over the weekend. Witnesses say shots rang out early Sunday around 1:45 a.m. in the 4800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE in Salem.

The shooter, according to Lt. Sheila Lorance with the Marion County Sheriff\'s Office, was probably not firing at anyone in the house. They believe the bullets were intended for a person outside the duplex.

His drive to see Honduras host Democratic elections led to the revolt. The political position he took ultimately placed him at odds with the military, the courts and the legislature.

(SALEM, Ore.) - A Salem man received critical injuries in a three vehicle crash on Interstate - 5 near milepost 255 in Salem. OSP troopers and Salem Police were dispatched at 4:45 a.m. to a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate - 5 near milepost 255 at State Street.

OSP Sergeant Dale Young says a 1999 Lincoln Navigator, driven by 26-year old Jose Zendejas of Salem, was southbound on Interstate-5 after having just entered the freeway from Market St in Salem.

In fact it was during the summer of 2006, while covering the World Beat Festival, that I learned what Salem even means.

The word varies a bit depending upon the part of the world you happen to be visiting, but salem means 'peace' and I found that to be a nice piece of knowledge.

Now we are engaged in the production of a documentary about a huge subject: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This is a condition experienced by people who survive any range of traumatic events, and combat heads the list of reasons that people end up living with PTSD.

Wednesday`s Sea of Green in Iran is Confirmed

(SALEM, Ore.) - Wednesday Iran will be a "Sea of Green" as protesters take to the streets after several consecutive days of unrest. Protesters organizing the event ask others to come to Baharestan Square in Tehran at 4:00 p.m.

Iranians can apparently move around without a lot of hassle if they aren't wearing the color that represents the Freedom Movement. One person twittered, "Going to Bazaar is safe, just don't wear green."

Four Reported Dead in Washington D.C. Train Crash (VIDEO)

Officials say the fatality is the second in Metrorail’s 33-year history.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Officials in the nation's capitol city say two six-car Red Line trains collided at 5:00 p.m. today, resulting in two fatalities. One of the people who died is the female train operator. There were also several injuries, many serious, according to preliminary reports.

Metro officials do not know the cause of the collision and are not likely to know the cause for several days as the investigation unfolds. Both trains were on the same track headed toward Shady Grove Metrorail station, according to preliminary reports. The female operator was on the trailing train.

Western Media Inaccuracy & The Iran Twitter Grid

Interpretations of problems in Iran by shows like "Meet the Press" completely miss the point.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The problems over the election in Iran signaled the end of a momentary lull in false propaganda on American TV. On Meet The Press with David Gregory Sunday morning, proof of the utter and total disregard for facts was laid out like a court case against the show itself.

What they left out of the program was some honest and interesting data about the way the social networks are becoming the primarily and possibly only tool of communication for members of the "Green" movement in Iran aupporting Mousavi.
