(JACKSON, Miss. AlJazeera) - President Obama speaking in Cairo Purists or fanatics may say that he did not go far enough in condemning past U.S. actions, or in reasserting his predecessor’s open-ended commitment to anything and everything Israel did or wanted.

But politics is the art of the practical, and neither groveling in the rhetorical dirt nor being an Israeli apologist would do anyone except those purists and fanatics any good.

Oregon Police Agencies Participate in Special Olympics Torch Run (VIDEO)

The torch runners passed through Salem Wednesday.

(SALEM, Ore.) - runners Salem Police officers joined other law enforcement agencies from the local area for the "Flame of Hope" annual Law Enforcement Torch Run June 3rd. Officers joined state troopers and country deputies in running the torch over the twelve-mile course that wound through the Mid-Willamette Valley.

Salem Police officers received the torch from members of the Marion County Sheriff's Office at the Sunnyside/Turner Exit on Interstate 5 and ran the torch up Commercial Street, stopping at the Salem Civic Center for a brief ceremony.

Oregon Man Battles to Remove Historic Mojave Desert Cross Honoring War Dead

It began when an Oregon who said he was "offended" by this historic cross honoring WWI war dead.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Historic Mojave Desert Cross covered under court order. Religious groups and veteran's organizations are applauding arguments from the federal government in favor of a historic cross in the California Desert, built by war veterans to honor their fallen.

The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty explains that in a brief filed in the Supreme Court in Salazar v. Buono, the United States government defended the constitutionality of the 75-year old Mojave Desert Cross, which memorializes World War I veterans.

Petty Officer Third Class Kelly Parker's video camera caught the action from a MH-60J rescue helicopter that flew to the scene from Coast Guard's Group/Air Station Astoria in Oregon.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Tribute for Salem, Oregon Murder victim Montez Bailey Hearts in Salem are broken over the senseless shooting death of Montez Bailey, a young man who was shot and fatally wounded while sitting on a park bench with two friends earlier this week.

His friends where also shot, but they survived. They are 21-year old Skylar Bailey, and 20-year old Cameron Carolino. Police are still looking for the killer.
