Medical Marijuana Advocates Announce TV Ad Campaign Featuring Seriously Ill Patients (VIDEO)

Minnesota patients want the state to join 12 others that presently allow medical use of marijuana.

(MINNEAPOLIS) - Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty Advocates announced the first in a new series of TV ads today featuring seriously ill patients asking Minnesotans to urge Gov. Tim Pawlenty not to veto a bill to protect suffering Minnesotans from arrest for using medical marijuana with a doctor's recommendation.

The ad features Lynn Rubenstein Nicholson of Minneapolis, who suffers intractable pain after enduring 10 surgeries following a back injury.

Child Abuse Prevention Advocates Honor Thousands of Victims in Salem (VIDEO)

A special event kicks off Child Abuse Prevention Month.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Pinwheels represent the roughly 1,900 children that were victims of abuse They say only a fraction of the children who suffer abuse in this country report those crimes. What we do know is that in 2006 alone, there were over 12,000 child abuse victims in this state, and advocates say it is far too many.

During a special event Thursday in Salem on the steps of the state capitol, voices were heard offering words of support and hope.
