(CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C.) - Marines on Iwo Jima On 16th September Congressman Brad Miller, Chairman of the House Committee on Science and Technology’s Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight held a hearing about Camp Lejeune water contamination.

Demands of Independent Investigation into Death of Cameroonian Journalist

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Bibib Ngota The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) is calling on the Cameroonian government to quickly open an independent investigation into the death of journalist Cyrille Germain Ngota Ngota alias Bibi Ngota.

(HICKORY, N.C.) - Zahra Clare Baker Hickory Police, N.C. Police investigators say they are working several leads that specifically address missing girl Zahra Clare Baker's life before she disappeared.

Investigators will interview her former teachers at schools in Caldwell County, NC. The family also lived at several different addresses recently, and investigators will interview those neighbors who may have known the family and Zahra.

What Not to Bring to a Lie Detector Test

(OLYMPIA, Wash.) - Washington State Patrol logo Background investigators for the Washington State Patrol “threw the book” at a prospective employee last week. The book, in this case, was owned by the applicant himself.
The incident played out as Criminal Records Manager Heather Anderson was arriving for a meeting at State Patrol headquarters. She happened to look in the car parked next to hers. On the seat was a book titled “How to Beat the Lie Detector.”

The State Patrol is hiring, so Anderson contacted the Human Resources division. “Running any candidates through the process today?” she asked. “Why, yes,” replied Captain Jay Cabezuela. “There’s a fellow taking his polygraph exam right now.”

ODFW Seeks Comments on Plan to Restore Upper Willamette Salmon and Steelhead

(SALEM, Ore.) - Willamette/Lower Columbia ESA Salmon Recovery Domain Three state and federal agencies are hosting a series of four public meetings on the soon-to-be released plan to restore spring chinook and winter steelhead populations in the upper Willamette River Basin. The meetings are sponsored by the State of Oregon’s Governors Natural Resources Office, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Marine Fisheries Service.

The Upper Willamette River Salmon and Steelhead Conservation and Recovery Plan is a roadmap to help rebuild spring chinook salmon and steelhead populations in the Willamette Basin.
