Deputies Investigate Construction Flagger Struck and Killed by Dump Truck

This tragedy is a reminder to drive with extreme caution in and around construction zones.

(HAPPY VALLEY, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Initial reports indicate that crews with Northwest Natural Gas had been on scene of a natural gas leak in the area, and had SE 132nd Ave completely closed to traffic.

A dump truck experienced mechanical problems, and was attempting to remove his truck from the construction area, he struck and killed the 71-year old flagger.

Johnson was struggling with drug addiction which may have affected his mental health.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Terrell Kyreem Johnson On Thursday June 22, 2017, a Multnomah County Grand Jury determined that a Portland Police Bureau officer was justified in the use of deadly force in the May 2017 shooting of 24-year-old Terrell Kyreem Johnson.

The grand jury determined that the use of deadly force against Johnson was a lawful exercise of self-defense under Oregon law.

Search for Young Drowning Victim Suspended

Salem Police and Fire units were on scene for hours to no avail.

(SALEM, Ore.) - drowning The child had been swimming near the old boat ramp of the park and underneath the pedestrian bridge when he appeared to become distressed and in need of help.

Several other people who were in the area attempted to get to the child, but he slipped under the water and out of sight of the would-be rescuers.

Dallas Man Killed in Hwy 26 Crash that Caused Grassfire

A motorist was first on scene, and was able to extricate the children and female passenger.

(MADRAS, Ore.) - fatal crash Wednesday, just prior to 5 p.m. Oregon State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway 26 near milepost 11, between Madras and Prineville.

The initial investigation revealed a single motor vehicle was traveling westbound and for unknown reasons, traveled off the roadway and struck a tree on the south ditch easement.

A third option on driver licenses, instruction permits and ID cards will be available starting July 3

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon drivers license An X will appear instead of M or F in Oregon driver records and on the driver license, instruction permit or ID card.

The new rule came about after an Oregon resident’s court order authorized a sex change from female to “non-binary.” In order to comply with the order, DMV needed about a year to implement the change.
