Police Investigate Serious Christmas Eve Injury Traffic Crash

Crash happened on Highway 20 between Corvallis and Albany‏.

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - Crash investigation Several people were injured, some seriously, Thursday evening in a three vehicle traffic crash on Highway 20 between Corvallis and Albany.

Oregon State Police troopers, with the help of Albany Police Department, are continuing the investigation but not all names are available for this release.

Fatal Traffic Crash in Coos County Attributed to Icy Conditions

A California man died in the crash on Highway 42 east of Remote, in Coos County.

(COOS BAY) - Fatal crash in Coos County, Oregon 12-24-09 Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation of a single-vehicle fatal traffic crash Thursday morning on Highway 42, about five miles east of Remote, in Coos County.

Sergeant John Keeler with OSP, says icy conditions were a contributing factor in the crash that resulted in the death of 48-year old Kenneth Michael Rasmussen of Bakersfield, California man.

Salem Man Dies After Losing Control Near Santiam Pass

Crash on Highway 22 happened in an area where icy spots were reported.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Fatal crash near Santiam Pass in Oregon 12-24-09 Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation into Thursday morning's two-vehicle fatal traffic crash on Highway 22 west of Santiam Pass. The crash resulted in the death of a Salem man and minor injuries to another person.

OSP Sergeant Mark Davie says today at approximately 10:30 a.m. a 1998 Ford Mustang driven by 52-year old Robert W. Fickel of Salem, was eastbound on Highway 22 near milepost 76 enroute to Madras when he lost control.

Oregon Murder and Rape Convict Dies in Prison

Barone has been on death row since 1995.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 49-year old Cesar Barone A convicted Oregon murderer and rapist, 49-year old Cesar Barone, passed away at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Thursday, December 24, 2009, of natural causes in the Oregon State Penitentiary Infirmary.

The convict was locked up in the Department of Corrections on January 31, 1995, after Washington County courts found him guilty on six counts of Aggravated Murder, two counts of Murder, eight counts of first-degree Burglary, two counts of first-degree Attempted Sodomy, two counts of first-degree Attempted Rape, and one count of first-degree Sex Abuse.

Salem Home Damaged in Early Morning Fire

The cause has not yet been determined.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Fire in Salem, Oregon on Jensen St. 12-24-09 Salem firefighters were called to a house fire at 2975 Jensen St NE in Salem at 4:40 a.m. today. The response was upgraded to a second alarm based on witness reports shortly after fire crews were dispatched.

"Firefighters on six fire engines and one ladder truck quickly brought the fire under control, but not before the home was seriously damaged by the fire," Parrott said.
