Woman Flies From Bridge Into Mill Creek After Being Struck by Vehicle (VIDEO)

Rescue efforts of Salem Police and Fire recognized as lifesaving.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Salem Police say 48-year old Janice Johnson was struck by a vehicle on Mission Street Wednesday night, on the bridge over Mill Creek.

She was propelled over the concrete barrier about 30 feet into the water below, and was rescued by Salem Police and Fire personnel, according to Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada.

Portland Police Investigate Reported Child Abduction Attempt

Police want to talk to the girl involved in this alleged incident and anyone with information concerning this case is asked to call Detectives at 503-823-0407.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Portland Police officers responded to the area of 136th and Division today at 3:45 p.m. on a report that a man in the area had possibly attempted to grab a child.

Detective Mary Wheat with the Portland Police Bureau, says officers interviewed two citizens who stated they witnessed a man attempting to grab a girl walking in the area and that the man attempted to chase her.

Who attacked who at a Florida anti-immigration protest?

(FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.) - Salem-News.com A media group called World Net Daily, sent Salem-News.com a video clip this morning of a violent clash between protesters at an anti-immigration counter protest in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The group claims that last Saturday, "Che Guevara supporters with a radical pro-amnesty coalition viciously attacked and bludgeoned tea party protesters at a Florida anti-illegal-immigration rally."

Wyden, Merkley Announce Millions in Military Construction Projects, VA Health Care

Veterans Affairs Funding to be for Two-Year Cycle for First Time.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - View of Camp Rilea U.S. Senators Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) announced millions in funding for Oregon as part of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations bill passed by the Senate.

The bill also marks the first time that the veterans health care funding will be budgeted for a two-year period supplanting the yearly budgeting process.

Coos Bay Child Pornography Fugitive Sentenced to Prison

John Calvin Hudson III is sentenced to three years in prison.

(COOS BAY) - Attorney General John Kroger today announced that a former fugitive was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.

“Child pornography victimizes children and the people who engage in it need to be punished,” said Attorney General Kroger.

Nine out of ten voters in a recent Mellman Group survey said they do not want abortion views to bog down the progress on health care reform.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Leaders of faith groups are calling for greater religious respect in the often vociferous health care reform debate.

Heads of Protestant, Catholic, Jewish and interfaith organizations are standing together to voice support for diversity of religious views, after the U.S. House version of health care reform legislation emerged with language that would expand limits on health care coverage of abortion, even in the private insurance market.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Photos of Oregon Search and Rescue teams by Q Madp IraqWarHeroes.org Earlier this month I went to Sandy, Oregon area with my friend Noah Patraw, one of those guys that loves driving a 4x4 and you know, there are many like him out there.

And then there are those that love to drive 4x4's and use this skill and love for the terrain to assist the community in searching for and rescuing people.

Army Psychiatrists: PTSD & Major Hasan - Retread

It's not a personality disorder.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - First responders use a table as a stretcher to transport a wounded Soldier to an awaiting ambulance at Fort Hood Nov. 5. The Fort Hood Massacre leaves many questions in my mind. I can look at this and think about it from several viewpoints. I did have a year of psychology in college and a course of psychiatry in medical school. By any standard that is not enough.

I did have advanced psychology courses in the Infantry as a Private Combat Infantryman. I was convinced that most of my sergeants, junior officers and even farther up the brass chain were off kilter.
