Thin Support for Wyden`s Tree-Thinning Plan? (AUDIO)

Sean Stevens, spokesman for the group Oregon Wild, says the plan will allow more logging in some of the state's oldest forests.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Oregon forest photo by Austin King Salem-News.com Conservation groups hope Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore) doesn't open old wounds by circulating a draft of legislation he wants to introduce in Congress on a topic near and dear to Oregon - its forests.

Wyden's preliminary plan forbids logging any tree older than 120 years in Western Oregon, and 150 years in the drier forests of Eastern Oregon.

Lyons Man Faces Multiple Charges for Running from Police

Deputies and a K-9 tracked the suspect for several hours and located him near 119th and Waldo Hills Road; over 4 miles away from where the pursuit began.

(LYONS, Ore.) - 36-year old Eric Ray Harvey Marion County deputies in Salem arrested a man on numerous charges this morning that stem from a stolen vehicle incident and a lengthly chase involving a deputy's K9.

36-year old Eric Ray Harvey, of Lyons, Oregon faces charges related to vehicle theft, and the assault and harassment of a police animal. He also faces charges for fleeing police.

Oregon AG Kroger Praises EPA`s Reversal of Bush Policy on Carbon Emissions

A coalition of states urged new EPA administrator to reverse Bush Administration and declare that greenhouse gases contribute to air pollution and endanger public health.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Greenhouse gas Attorney General John Kroger praised the Environmental Protection Agency’s decision today to declare that carbon emissions posed a threat to public health.

“This is a great victory for the rule of law and for science,” said Attorney General Kroger.

FBI and Dallas Police Investigate Armed Bank Robbery

The FBI says the incident took place in Dallas, Oregon around noon Thursday.

(DALLAS, Ore.) - Image from a security camera at the Dallas robbery. A spokesperson with the Federal Bureau of Investigation says that around noon Thursday, a man robbed the Oregon First Commuity Credit Union located at 372 Ellendale Boulevard in Dallas, Oregon.
