U.S. Treasury Department Releases Guidance on Build America Bonds and School Bonds

The existing tax-exempt bond market has faced significant challenges over the past two years.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - U.S. Treasury bonds The U.S. Treasury Department today released guidance on the Obama Administration’s Build America Bonds and School Bonds programs.

They say the bonds will help states and localities pursue needed capital projects, such as infrastructure development and public school construction.

One Man Dies in Crash South of Bandon

The right front passenger in the vehicle, 45-year old Richard Anthony Standiford of Langlois, was transported to Southern Coos General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

(BANDON, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Oregon State Police say a Langlois-area man died Saturday afternoon when the vehicle he was operating crashed into a tree along Highway 101 south of Bandon.

According to OSP Trooper Joshua Young, the fatal crash happened today around 12:12 p.m. as a 2005 Jeep Cherokee sport utility vehicle driven by 74-year old David Lawrence Allen of Langlois, was northbound on Highway 101 near milepost 279.

Oregon Sees Four Fatal Crashes Saturday

The weather brings residents outdoors in droves; but this sunny day is shadowed by multiple fatal crashes on Oregon's roads.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Fatal crash investigation Oregon State Police are on the scene of a fatal crash on Highway 99 near Savage Rapids Dam; at 6:45 p.m. Saturday they responded to a fatal traffic crash happened Highway 38 between Scottsburg and Elkton, involving a single motorcycle.

State troopers were called to the scene of a fatal crash at 4:45 p.m. on Highway 18, near milepost 5 in Lincoln County. Before that, they responded to a fatal traffic crash on Highway 101 south of Bandon.

Police say it happened on Highway 99W at Clow Corner Road.

(DALLAS, Ore.) - Car Plows Underneath Semi in Serious Injury Crash near Dallas, Oregon Police say a Salem-area man was seriously injured Friday afternoon when the car he was driving crashed into the side of a turning commercial trailer on Highway 99W at Clow Corner Road in Polk County.

According to Oregon State Police Trooper Michael Rockwell, the crash happened Friday at approximately 12:46 p.m.

Oregon needs to address Domestic Violence and School Bullying as forerunners to creating the Military Mindset. "Let there be light," so it says in Genesis. We who proclaim to love Peace must not ignore the homefront.

(SALEM, Ore.) - School violence Aggression and violence are not programmed at birth but we get contaminated by our social environment. Poor examples propagate and contaminate others.

Clackamas County Water Rescue Successful in the Clackamas River

The third person has been located, alive.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - Salem-News.com A drift boat was overturned in the Clackamas River this morning, with three people on board, reported at 10:15 a.m. Two of the boaters were quickly located by Marine patrol personnel and they are now safe on land.

The third individual was reportedly not wearing a personal floatation device (PFD), making the risk to him much more intense, as the present water temperature of the Clackamas River is 41 degrees Fahrenheit.

Racer Concerned That Racing Will End Under House Bill 2186

"If guys can no longer drive their classics and street rods they will also have to sell them or move out of state, then we won't have a show that can raise any money. Beyond our shows, car clubs all over the state raise money for different charities..." - Rich Bailey

(SALEM, Ore.) - Rich Bailey at a car show in Salem. A local drag racer believes that motorsports will eventually end in Oregon if a new law is passed that will ban the sale and distribution of high performance auto parts.

Rich Bailey of Salem, is concerned that if he can no longer buy parts for his blown alcohol dragster he will need to eventually sell the car out of state or move his operation elsewhere if bill 2186 passes.
