Morphine has long been the standard strong pain killer for almost any purpose. Certain similar drugs are considered more potent on the basis of dose.
For example Dilaudids dose is 1.5 mg compared to morphine at 10 mg for the same effect. Heroin is about 3 mg, Oxycodone (Percodan) is about 10 mg but Oxycontin is a special long acting form which has caused thousands of deaths when patients pulverize the pills which causes immediate release of the drug.

Senate Approves Legislation to Step Up Food Safety Enforcement

SB 188 Increases Penalties Department of Agriculture can impose against violators.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
Legislation that will give additional tools to the Oregon’s Department of Agriculture’s ability to enforce high standards for food safety won approval from the Oregon Senate today.
Currently, the Department can only impose criminal charges for violations, the maximum fine being $200. SB 188 will allow the Department to issue civil penalties up to $10,000.

The State of California issued the Amber Alert Monday morning after a girl was reportedly abducted during a burglary in Yreka.
The victim, three-year old Francis Ann Collins is a white female, three-feet tall and weighs 30 pounds.

Police: Suspect Flees Traffic Stop in McMinnville

Tracy Duncan was treated and released at the scene by Sheridan Medics for injuries sustained as a result of the crash. William Duncan is still at large.
(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) -
McMinnville Officers say a traffic stop early Sunday morning at 1:50 a.m. led to a pursuit and injury crash before it was over.
Captain Dennis Marks with McMinnville Police say the incident began when an officer attempted to stop a 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix on SE Davis near Booth Bend Road. The driver, 38-year old William James Duncan, drove off from the scene after being identified by the officer, he said.

US Soldier Guilty of Iraq Murder

An American military jury has found a US army officer guilty of the murder of an Iraqi detainee.
(WASHINGTON D.C.) -
The jury in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, also convicted 1st Lt Michael Behenna of assaulting Ali Mansour Mohammed near Baiji, north of Baghdad, last May.
Behenna had argued that he was defending himself when he fatally shot Mr Mohammed during an interrogation.

The journey from child, to teen, to young adult to parent seems to have similar stops along the way for most everyone. My college years were during the “age of stupidity,” as a man I greatly respect refers to the ‘60s and early ‘70s.
As a love-child and soon-to-be yuppie, I was thoroughly convinced that I would be a different parent to any children I might have than my parents were to me.
