(SALEM, Ore.) - Stand for Children rally Salem, Oregon 2-16-09 More than 5,000 citizens spent their President's Day holiday traveling by busload and carpool to Salem with a simple message for the Legislature: Protect kids and schools.

“With an $800 million shortfall in the current budget and a $2.2 billion gap in the next biennium, we know there are no easy answers,” said Holly Pruett, Stand for Children’s Oregon Executive Director.

Iranian Bioweapon Researcher Dies Suspiciously

A US-based Iranian doctor working to discover an antitoxin therapy for biological weapons has purportedly died a "suspicious death."

(TEHRAN) - Dr. Nasser Talebzadeh Ordoubadi One of the leading bioweapon researchers and a regular keynote speaker at international conferences, Dr. Nasser Talebzadeh Ordoubadi died on Saturday in what his doctors described as a "suspicious death".

Media reports have linked Dr. Talebzadeh Ordoubadi's mysterious death to his notable accomplishments in discovering an antitoxin treatment for bioweapons.

Five Individuals Recognized for Efforts to Combat Child Abuse

Participants at this year's conference included law enforcement officers, employees from Department of Human Services, medical professionals, attorneys from the Oregon Department of Justice, and prosecutors from agencies across the state.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Child Abuse Blue ribbon Five individuals from Salem, Hillsboro, Portland, and Columbia and Deschutes County were recognized Thursday for their work in support of combating child abuse at the 3rd Annual Child Abuse Conference in Salem.

On February 12th, 2009, the Child Abuse Training Committee of the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training presented awards at the 3rd Annual Child Abuse Conference.

Clackamas Deputies Say `Exposer` Arrested Sunday Has Prior Convictions For Public Indecency

Records indicate that Bryon Earl Huff has at least 21 prior arrests; which includes 2 prior convictions for public indecency.

(HAPPY VALLEY, Ore.) - 47-year old Bryon Earl Huff Clackamas County Deputy Sheriff's responded to an alert of a man exposing himself that had just reportedly occurred at the Goodwill Store, located at 11424 SE 82nd Avenue, in Happy Valley, Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

Detective Jim Strovink, Clackamas Sheriff's Office Spokesman, says officers arrived and located 47-year old Bryon Earl Huff who was arrested and transported to the Clackamas County Jail.

Senate Votes to Raise Compensation for Orphans and Widows of Workers Killed on the Job

SB 110 increases compensation for college age orphans, burial costs.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon State Capitol Legislation to increase benefits provided to the families of Oregon workers killed on the job or permanently and totally disabled from their work was approved by the Oregon Senate this morning.

“This legislation honors the memory of Oregonians who have experienced the tragedy of work place death and disabling injuries,” said Sen. Diane Rosenbaum (D-Portland), chair of the Senate Commerce and Workforce Development Committee.

Suspect Arrested in Newberg-Dundee Child Rape Case

The investigators believe the three-year old girl is the only victim.

(NEWBERG, Ore.) - Man in handcuffs Newberg-Dundee Police have been trying to locate and arrest a suspect allegedly involved in the rape of a three-year old girl since February 3rd 2009.

Sgt. Tim Weaver with Newberg-Dundee Police says after several attempts in locating 19-year old Neftali Sanchez-Gonzales, officers acted on a citizen tip late Monday afternoon and found him in a house in south Newberg.

WWII Navy Pilot Honored at Memorial Service in Oregon (VIDEO)

Family, friends and just plain old Americans came out to honor this vet who beat the odds many times in his lifetime.

(ALVADORE, Ore.) - Harry Snyder just after WWII A Naval officer who served in World War Two was laid to rest this week in Springfield, Oregon. Retired Lt. Cmndr. Harry Freeman Snyder was born on November 26, 1918 in Richmond, Michigan.

He was the only child of Esbon and Tillie (Wagner) Snyder. Harry died on January 10, 2009 in Springfield, Oregon; he was 90 years of age.

Obama`s Caterpillar Visit a Thumb in the Eye for Human Rights Activists

Caterpillar's equipment has been used to level homes, build Israel's illegal separation wall and, in some cases, kill innocent civilians.

(SAN FRANCISCO) - Peace activist Rachel Corrie In his speech on Thursday, Obama praised Caterpillar, saying, “Your machines plow the farms that feed our families; build the towers that shape our skylines; lay the roads that connect our communities; power the trucks that deliver our goods.”

He failed to mention that Caterpillar machines have been used to level Palestinian homes, uproot olive orchards, build the illegal separation wall and, in some cases, kill innocent civilians, including a 23-year old American peace activist.
