Paul Stanford Discusses Increasing Medical Marijuana Acceptance in U.S. (VIDEO)

How do the increasing number of states legalizing marijuana for medical use affect the rest of the country?

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Medical Marijuana is now legal in 13 U.S. states. This ironic number is a demonstration of the growing popularity of laws that legalize and regulate the medicinal use of cannabis for sick people.

Along with Dr. Phillip Leveque who writes regularly on the subject, one of Oregon's central figures in the effort to bring this herb to people in a legal way is Paul Stanford of The Hemp and Cannabis Foundation which operates clinics in several states. The newest clinic is in Michigan.

Bi-Partisan Bill Would Protect Rights of Gun Owners

There are more than 109,000 Oregonians with a Concealed Handgun License. Each has undergone an extensive background check and firearms training.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Woman with gun State Representative Kim Thatcher (R-Keizer, St. Paul, Newberg) and State Representative Jeff Barker (D-Aloha) introduced House Bill 2727 today to shield the private information of Oregonians with Concealed Handgun Licenses (CHL).

“Disclosure defeats the whole point of having a concealed weapons permit,” said Thatcher. “The private information about these Oregon gun owners should also remain concealed.”

Reed to Host Rouslin Art Benefit For Salem Chamber Orchestra

The event happens on the first Wednesday in March.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Paintings by Dr. Sam Rouslin The Reed Opera House, in concert with the Salem Chamber Orchestra, will launch an exhibit of watercolors by Dr. Sam Rouslin at a wine reception on Wednesday, March 4, in the Reed’s second floor Gallery 205.

The “First Wednesday” wine reception honoring Dr. Rouslin from 5:30 to 8 p.m. is open to the public. All of the paintings in the exhibit have been gifted to the Salem Chamber Orchestra, and all proceeds from the sale of the Rouslin art will directly benefit the orchestra.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Marijuana leaves Almost a Majority of Oregonians Oppose Efforts to Revise the Oregon Medical Marijuana Act to Allow Employers to Fire or Not Hire Medical Marijuana Patients.

By a margin of 17 points, voters oppose amending Oregon’s 1998 Medical Marijuana Act (for which there is still resounding support across the state) to allow employers to discriminate against medical marijuana patients.

(ALOHA, Ore.) - Warren and Kenneth Tripp Criminal investigators say Aloha resident 59-year-old Warren Tripp, was arrested in January on charges involving sexual molestation of a child in his foster care home.

Sheriff's Detectives are seeking the public's help with identifying any other victims that may have suffered sexual abuse by Mr. Tripp but have not yet reported it to law enforcement.

"Driving towards a car with both headlights and fog or auxiliary lights on can be like driving toward a car with its high headlight beams on, it can be blinding," said Michele OLeary with the Oregon Department of Transportation's Safety Division.

Amber Alert Issued in Texas for Little Girl

Anyone with information is asked to call the Conroe, Texas Police Department at 936-522-3200 or dial 911.

(CONROE, Tx.) - The Sate of Texas issued an Amber Alert Tuesday morning after a girl was abducted on Monday night in Conroe.

Police in Texas believe the child is in danger.

5-year old Annabelle Williams-Furlano, a white female, is three feet four inches tall and she weighs about 35 pounds.
