CFR Report Warns U.S. Must Prepare for Potential Instability in North Korea

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - North Korea`s Kim Jong-Il Continuing uncertainties about the health of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il and possible succession arrangements “warrant heightened attention and preparation” by U.S. policymakers, says a new Council on Foreign Relations report.

“The risks are too great and the stakes too high” for U.S. policymakers “to rely on last-minute improvisation for a peaceful and stable outcome” in nuclear-armed North Korea, says the report sponsored by CFR’s Center for Preventive Action (CPA).

Slippery driving left a car balanced over the edge of a 60-foot drop.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Car crash in SW Portland, Ore. 1-27-09 One Portland motorist found out how treacherous the roads can be in the hills of SW Portland Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 p.m.

Lt. Allen Oswalt with Portland Fire, says with the roads covered with a blanket of wet, slippery snow caused some tense moments for this driver.

"As he was carefully negotiating the curves and hills of SW Humphrey Boulevard, he slowed for the upcoming corner and slid off the side of the road," Oswalt said.

Newberg-Dundee Police Arrest Man for Employer Theft

The suspect has reportedly been employed by Lewis Audio Video since 2003.

(NEWBERG, Ore.) - 48-year old Donald Scott Kum of Newberg A Newberg man was arrested for seven counts of first and second-degree theft following a monthlong investigation into alleged property and cash thefts from his employer.

Sergeant Tim Weaver with Newberg-Dundee Police says 48-year old Donald Scott Kum of Newberg, was arrested Monday, January 26th, as search warrants were being served on his home, car and two storage units.

He allegedly removed numerous electronic components and cash from his employer, Lewis Audio Video in Newberg, Weaver said.
