Woman and Two Kids Hurt in Crash Near Walton

Police in Oregon emphasize the need for drivers to slow down in bad weather conditions.

(WALTON, Ore.) - Crash near Walton, Oregon 12-17-08 Police say an adult and two children were seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when losing control and striking a tree along Highway 126W near Walton.

Oregon State Police Trooper Clay Core, says at approximately 1:30 PM, a 1991 Eagle two-door driven by 28-year old Kathleen S. Vining of Mapleton, was eastbound on Highway 126W near milepost 32 when it lost control on a patch of ice, left the highway and crashed into a tree.

Amity Man Dies in Sledding Accident

A tragic turn for a family enjoying the Oregon snow is a harsh reminder of the risks.

(AMITY, Ore.) - Yamhill County badge Kenneth John Meyer was sledding with his wife and son outside of McMinnville when, at 11:48 AM, his sled left the driveway and slid into the path of a northbound 2004 Mazda pickup, according to police. He was killed by the impact.

Keizer Police Arrest Man for Stabbing His Brother

The victim was transported to the Salem Hospital Emergency Room in serious condition. ‏

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Stabbing investigation Keizer Police arrested a man for stabbing his brother in the stomach early this morning. Capt. Jeff Kuhns with Keizer PD says that around 12:41 AM, officers were dispatched to a report of a "Late Assault" where the victim was reportedly bleeding from his stomach on Plymouth Drive NE.

Weather Doesn`t Prevent TVF&R Crews From Containing Fast Spreading Fire‏

The preliminary cause of the fire was believed to be related to the furnace.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - Fire in Clackamas, Oregon 12-16-08 Fire crews from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue and Lake Oswego Fire, were called out to a rural Clackamas County residence Tuesday night at 8:13 PM, after residents reported a fire in the basement and the house filling with smoke.

TVF&R reports that the occupants escaped the home without injury. Fire crews with all apparatus chained for traction encountered steep icy roads and no fire hydrants in the rural neighborhood east of Tualatin.

Second Suspect in Fatal Oregon Bank Explosion Faces New Charges

The suspect is now charged with Manufacture of a Destructive Device, Possession of Destructive Device, 1st degree Assault, 2nd degree Assault, Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Murder, 2 counts of Attempted Aggravated Murder, and 6 counts of Aggravated Murder.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 57-year old Bruce Turnidge of rural Salem A second man in custody for Friday's fatal bank bombing in Woodburn, 57-year old Bruce Turnidge of rural Salem, now faces additional charges, according to Marion County District Attorney Courtland Geyer.

The explosion killed OSP Senior Trooper Bill Hakim and Woodburn Police Captain Tom Tennant. Woodburn Police Chief Scott Russell was seriously injured in the blast, and one bank employee was also injured.

Vancouver Police Respond to Bomb Threat at Evergreen High School‏

One additional suspicious device was located outside of the school, along with a backpack located outside the school sitting out in the open on the Evergreen High School campus

(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - Vancouver`s Evergreen High School Vancouver Police responded to a bomb threat at Evergreen High School today at 10:10 AM. A student notified school security of a note in one of the school's bathrooms referencing a possible bomb threat.

Kim Kapp with Vancouver Police, says school security notified the Vancouver Police School Resource Officer assigned to Evergreen High School and the school was locked down immediately.

Services For Local Police Killed in the Line of Duty (UPDATED)

The event honoring State Trooper Bill Hakim takes place Saturday. The event honoring Woodburn Captain takes place Friday.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Senior Trooper Hakim and Captain Tennant The memorial service for Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Bill Hakim is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 20th at the Oregon State Fairgrounds Jackson Armory in Salem Oregon. The memorial procession to the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training will follow the service.

The memorial service for Woodburn Police Captain Tom Tennant will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, December 19th 2008 at the Salem Armory Auditorium located at the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem Oregon. Prior to the memorial service Friday, a procession will take place from the Woodburn Drag Strip located at 7730 Highway 219 in Woodburn to the Salem Armory at 2329 17th Street NE in Salem.

(LAKE OSWEGO, Ore.) - Lifeflight helicopter with sledding accident victim A 16-year old Westlake area boy was seriously injured in a sledding accident today at 3:30 PM, according to Gert Zoutendijk with Lake Oswego Fire.

He says the teenager was sledding down a short steep driveway when he fell and hit his head on the ground.
