G.I. Bill 2008: The worst form of executive arrogance and hypocrisy.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Salem-News.com The 1944 G.I. Bill was a Godsend and about 8 million took advantage of the educational opportunities. This 8 million really proved to be the Greatest Generation. Before this, college was the province of children of the rich. Now these would become the middle class powerhouse and they did.

To read now that G.W. Bush refused to sign for the 2008 GI Bill reminded me of what Texas Governor Ann Richardson said about him. "He was born with a silver foot in his mouth." I beg a correction. It must have stuck in his head. What other excuse for his numerous blunders and lies?

Amber Alert for 11-Year Old Nevada girl Cancelled

The Amber Alert for a Las Vegas girl has been cancelled; she was not harmed and is with police in California.

(LAS VEGAS, Nevada) - Police believe 11-year old Esther Melendez was taken out of Nevada by 30-year old Jose Rangel-Martinez Oregon State Police has been informed by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department that Thursday evening's AMBER Alert issued in Nevada is cancelled after the missing girl was found safe in Porterville, California.

Earlier this evening, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that they were seeking information to help find 11-year old Esther Melendez, who was believed to have been taken from her home by 30-year old Jose Rangel-Martinez.

Zargana is known throughout Burma as an irreverent comedian, but he also works as a producer, director, writer, and actor.

(BANGKOK) - Maung Thura, whose stage name is Zargana Burmese authorities have detained the country’s best-known comedian, a frequent critic of the junta and recently a major player in private efforts to aid victims of Cyclone Nargis, his family has told Radio Free Asia (RFA).

Maung Thura, whose stage name is Zargana, was taken away late Wednesday after he returned from the devastated Irrawaddy delta region, where he was trying to bring relief aid to survivors of the devastating May 2nd-3rd cyclone.

Deputies ask Public to Watch for Missing Aloha Man

Donald Errend is described as 6-feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds.

(ALOHA, Ore.) - Police are looking for a 55-year-old man missing from Aloha who is Schizophrenic and needs his medication. Donald Errend has not been seen since yesterday evening.

Sheriff’s deputies took a report of a man missing from a group home in Aloha Wednesday at 6:49 PM. 55-year-old Donald Errend is a diagnosed Schizophrenic and regularly takes medication for his condition.

Canby Police Arrest Suspect Over Tire Iron Assault

The men who were attacked received non life-threatening injuries.

(CANBY, Ore.) - Bryce N. Deller Police say one man is in custody for hitting two Canby men with a tire iron at 1802 N Pine Street in Canby. They say Bryce N. Deller of Canby was arrested for Assault II of the the assault that happened June 3rd at 10:45 PM.

Detective Chris Mead with Canby Police says Deller allegedly approached the victims and began to argue with them over some issues with his girlfriend.

Interstate 5 Temporarily Closes After Woman Jumps from Overpass

The lane was closed less than 30 minutes and the woman received non-life threatening injuries.

(TALENT, Ore.) - Police say one lane of northbound Interstate 5 was temporarily closed today around noon after a distraught woman reportedly jumped from a freeway overpass in Talent. The lane was closed less than 30 minutes and the woman received non-life threatening injuries.

According to Oregon State Police Senior Trooper William Matson, today at approximately 11:55 AM a 35-year old Talent-area woman jumped from the Talent overpass near the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 and exit 21.

Detectives have made arrests over thefts of wire from Consumer Power, Pacific Power and Light and their substations, as well as from several local area farmers’ irrigation wiring systems in Linn County. Sheriff Tim Mueller says one of the thefts resulted in a power outage in the Lebanon and Sweet Home area.
