Alps-Riviera Province in France Seeks to Eradicate Female Circumcision

The region PROVENCE - ALPS-RIVIERA wants to eradicate the intolerable practice of excision.

(PARIS, France) - Female circumcision According to the Ministries of Education and Health, nearly 60,000 women and girls are circumcised or threatened to be in France. Among those listed are about 3,000 in the Provence-Alpes - Côte d'Azur regions, according to estimates by the National Institute of Demographic Studies, based on populations of migrants.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, where the number of females excised or threatened to be is estimated to nearly 500, maternity hospitals have received their form and the investigation has already begun.

Yost Purchases Vick Building For $4.5 Million

Charles Vick, one of Salem’s most colorful early businessmen, is best remembered for donating $500 to the American Red Cross to be the first “motorist” to cross the new Center Street Bridge on July 29th 1918.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Vick Building in Salem Roger Yost increased his property holdings in Downtown Salem Thursday with the purchase of the Vick Building at 525 Trade Street for $4.5 million from a Los Angeles corporation that has owned the landmark since 1986.

The Vick, a 35,075 square foot masonry building constructed in 1920 to house a tractor dealer, is Yost’s fourth Downtown property purchase since 2003. The others are the historic Reed Opera House, the Capitol Center “skyscraper,” and Alessandro’s Ristorante and Galleria.

University of California Clinical Trial Shows Relief of Neuropathic Pain, Mild Side Effects.

(DAVIS, Calif.) - marijuana plant A clinical trial conducted at the University of California at Davis and just published online by the Journal of Pain has demonstrated significant relief of neuropathic pain (pain caused by damage to nerves) stemming from a variety of causes.

This is the second study in just over a year to show that marijuana relieves neuropathic pain, which is notoriously resistant to treatment with conventional pain drugs, including opioid narcotics.

(STAYTON, Ore.) - Skateboarders are viewed as a threat in Stayton, Oregon A public meeting was held at 6:30 PM in Stayton at the community center Wednesday night April 16th concerning the need for a skate park and a location for it.

The 5 member Parks and Recreation panel along with City Public Works Director, Mike Faught, and Lt. Rich Sebens of the Stayton Police Department were in attendance as well as 28 members of the community, including 6 teenage skateboarders.

That’s according to federal guidelines established in the 1960’s that have not factored in the increasing costs of housing, healthcare, utilities or transportation in the last four decades.

The number of people under the real poverty line in the U.S. could be two to three times higher. Non-profit organizations and government agencies are attempting to eradicate poverty, but the numbers show they are not succeeding.
