Siemens to Supply 141 Wind Turbines for Oregon Wind Farm

The Siemens Energy Sector is the world's leading supplier of a complete spectrum of products, services and solutions for the generation, transmission and distribution of power and for the extraction, conversion and transport of oil and gas.

(ORLANDO, Fla.) - Wind farms in the Midwest. Siemens Power Generation, Inc., part of the global Siemens Energy Sector, has been awarded another major order for its 2.3-megawatt (MW) wind turbines.

Siemens will supply 65 wind turbines for the Biglow Canyon Wind Farm Phase 2 and 76 units for the Biglow Canyon Wind Farm Phase 3 in Sherman County in Oregon.

UN report cites major gains in treating women and children with AIDS.

(GENEVA) - AIDS victim A United Nations report released today shows progress in treating children with AIDS and preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV, but urges greater efforts to stem the tide of the global epidemic.

According to Children and AIDS, there were some 2.1 million children under 15 living with HIV in 2007, most of whom were infected before birth, during delivery or while breastfeeding.

Silverton Man Struck by Vehicle on Highway 214

Police say the driver immediately stopped and rendered assistance to the injured man.

(SILVERTON, Ore.) - Crash investigation Police say a 79-year old Silverton man received non-life threatening injuries Thursday morning when he was struck by a car while attempting to walk across Highway 214 in Silverton.

Preliminary investigation indicates that this morning at approximately 6:30 AM, 79-year old Martin Nelson of Silverton, was attempting to walk across Highway 214 from the local McDonald's restaurant.

Problems continue in Oregon; 20 percent of 18- to 25-year olds abuse or are dependent on alcohol and need treatment.

(SALEM, Ore.) - This teen was used in an Oregon law enforcement alcohol Alcohol abuse and underage drinking continue to plague Oregon, and the health and social consequences are serious, sometimes fatal, according to the Oregon Department of Human Services Addictions and Mental Health Division.

Drinking starts young in this state. Thirty-one percent of Oregon's eighth graders and half the 11th graders reported regular alcohol use last year.

Oregon Health Fund Board members will crisscross the state for public input on health care system changes.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon State Capitol by Tim King Salem-News.com Beginning on May 1st, the Oregon Health Fund Board will kick off a series of 13 community meetings across the state to listen to public input on the broad concepts of health reform.

The Oregon Health Fund Board, established by the 2007 Legislature, is a diverse group of seven citizens responsible for developing a statewide health reform proposal in time for the 2009 Legislative session.
