Senate Leaders Agree on Housing Bill

Exact details of the bill are still being ironed out.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - McConnell and Reid Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following statement today, announcing an agreement in principle to address the housing crisis:

Reid said in a statement: “Senior Senate Democrats and Republicans have reached an agreement in principle to strengthen the economy by addressing the nationwide foreclosure crisis. Getting to this point has required compromise by all sides. This is a solid, bipartisan start to keeping families facing foreclosure in their homes."

United 777`s Grounded for Tests

As of 6:30 PM EST, 36 of the 52 Boeing 777 aircraft checks have been completed.

(CHICAGO) - united 777 United Airlines is informing customers traveling on United's Boeing 777 aircraft that they may experience flight delays or cancellations as a result of a functional check being performed on the aircraft.

As part of a regular review of maintenance records, the company discovered that the functional test that checks the firing system on one of the five bottles in the cargo fire suppression system on the Boeing 777 was not performed.

Engineer Infrastructure Battalion Graduates Hundreds in Taji, Iraq

The Iraqi soldiers will deploy to all parts of Iraq.

(TAJI, Iraq) - Hundreds of Iraqi soldiers of the Engineering Infrastructure Battalion Approximately 700 soldiers from the Iraqi Army Engineer Infrastructure Battalion celebrated the completion of their training during a graduation ceremony held here today, April 2nd.

Military officials say the battalion was created in October 2007 and these soldiers have gone through six months of training in various areas to include specific training in electrical and pipeline repair.

Hillsboro Police Arrest Man for Alleged Animal Abuse Involving Pit Bull

The dog, "Kahula" a pit bull, was transported by police to Dove Lewis Pet Hospital and was treated for cuts to the head and injury to the tail area.

(HILLSBORO, Ore.) - 22-year old Brandon Matthew Nagy, above, was arrested for abuse involving a pit bull named Hillsboro Police made an arrest in an animal abuse case Tuesday night involving a pit bull. The dog survived the alleged abuse and is recovering from injuries in a veterinarian hospital.

Oregon`s Economy Shows Modest Improvement

Employment growth slowed sharply over the same period of time.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - oregon state capitol The Oregon Index of Leading Indicators for February declined 6.5 percent, a modest improvement from the negative 10.5-percent reading for the month of January, Oregon's Office of Economic Analysis announced today.

The index has declined since July 2006, albeit at much slower rates than in the months that preceded the 2001 recession, state senior economist Michael Kennedy said.

Albany to Celebrate Another Tree City USA Award

Albany has won the Tree City USA award every year since 1994.

(ALBANY, Ore. ) - Tree City USA The City of Albany will celebrate National Arbor Week, April 6-12, by giving away young trees, hosting a tree identification walk, and listening to music by students from Liberty Elementary School.

Arbor Day events are scheduled from 9:30 AM to noon Saturday, April 12, in the plaza at Albany City Hall, 333 Broadalbin St. SW. One hundred live trees will be provided for individuals who want them, and refreshments will be served.

Mr. Rolon-Centeno’s heart medications were discovered inside his tow truck.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Dario Rolon Centeno Portland police are asking for the public's help in locating a missing tow truck driver.

On Friday, March 28, 61-year-old Dario Rolon-Centeno was reported as a Missing Person after having last been seen on Thursday, March 27, at approximately 10:30 AM, as he was responding to a call for tow service.

Police Investigate Death of One-Month Old in Gresham

Detectives say the case remains under investigation.

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - Police in Gresham are investigating a homicide involving an infant who they say was taken to Mt. Hood Medical Center on Saturday March 29th by ambulance.

The young victim was then transported to Emanuel Hospital in Portland, where he later died. The East County Major Crimes Team was activated to assist in the investigation.
