Grants Pass Man Dies in Single Vehicle Crash

Police say the roadway was covered in snow and slush and it was snowing hard at the time of the crash.

(GRANTS PASS, Ore.) - Fatal accident scene near Grants Pass, Oregon 3-28-08 Police say a Grants Pass man was killed in a single vehicle crash this afternoon on SR140 near milepost 21, about 24 miles east of Medford.

Sergeant Tanya Henderson with Oregon State Police says that at approximately 2:08 PM today, a Chevrolet pick-up was westbound on SR140, when according to witnesses, the driver lost control and crossed the oncoming lane of travel before leaving the roadway.

Marion County Deputies Track Alleged Metal Thief Hiding in Brier Patch

(KEIZER, Ore.) - 53-year old Danny Packer and 50-year old William Quayle Marion County deputies were called out to Windsor Island Road today after a citizen reported finding two men on their property "burning wire" which police say is often an attempt to burn the plastic coating off of wire in order to sell the metal.

Commander Jason Myers with the Marion County Sheriff says the property owner suspected the males were possible drug users and made contact with them. He reportedly told them he had called the Sheriff's office and deputies were enroute, he then warned them to stay where they were.

Truck `Overload` of Stolen PGE Wire Leads to Arrest of Suspected Metal Thief

Deputies believe it is probably meth related.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - Truck laden with stolen PGE cable Two construction workers arriving at work early this morning in Wilsonville say they caught a metal thief stealing large amounts of PGE cable from their jobsite. They say the man was observed overloading his compact pick-up truck with downed Portland General Electric power lines.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Jim Strovink says it is just the latest chapter in a story about meth addicts who are literally, dismantling our state.

(TROY, Mich.) - Champion Enterprises home under construction in Silverton, Oregon Champion Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE:CHB), a leader in factory-built construction, has announced that it will close its manufacturing facility in Silverton, Oregon, and idle the last of four plants at its complex in LaGrange, Indiana, transferring the LaGrange production to the Company's nearby facilities in Topeka, Indiana.

As a result of the closures, the Company expects to incur pretax cash restructuring charges of approximately $2.1 million in the first quarter ending March 29th 2008.
