Fred Meyer Stores Sued Over Sexual Harassment and Retaliation

The EEOC charges that a group of female workers were targeted.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Fred meyer storefront Retail giant Fred Meyer Stores, Inc. violated federal law when it allowed top level managers at its Oregon City store to sexually harass several female employees, according to a lawsuit the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed in federal district court here.

The EEOC further charges that Fred Meyer retaliated against the woman who first complained internally of harassment before ultimately bringing the situation to the EEOC's attention.

Pain at the Pumps as Oregon Gas Prices Spike

The price of gas in Oregon skyrockets another 16 cents this week, on top of an 11-cent increase the week before. And the national average soars 11 cents this week after a 7-cent increase the week before. But inventories of oil and gas are high. What happened to the laws of supply and demand?

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Gas pump nozzle The Oregon average rockets up 16 cents this week to $3.25, while the national average jumps up 11 cents to $3.14. The price of crude hit $101 per barrel again today, after reaching that record high for the first time last week.

Salem drivers are seeing an average cost of $3.204 per gallon, while Portland motorists see an average price of $3.235 for regular. Drivers in Eugene/Springfield are paying $3.287 at the pump, and the Medford/Ashland region is seeing an average cost of $3.317.

Christian Rock Pioneer Larry Norman of Salem Dies

Larry Norman was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2001.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Larry Norman The man who is credited as the pioneer of Christian rock music has died at the age of 60. Larry Norman was a familiar face in downtown Salem.

Larry Norman died in Salem Sunday from heart failure, said his brother, Charles Norman. Larry Norman's biggest commercial hit was as the lead singer of the folk-rock band People! That band's cover version of The Zombies song "I Love You" was an international hit and peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard chart in June 1968.

Newberg-Dundee Police Make Arrest in Abuse Case

Floyd Finsand's bail has been set at $1,810,000.

(NEWBERG, Ore.) - 60-year old Floyd Finsand is a suspect in a sexual abuse investigation involving a teen girl in the Dundee, Oregon area, arrested 2-25-08. A 60-year old man from Dundee faces 30 charges relating to the alleged sexual abuse of a 14-year old girl that detectives say took place over a three year period in the man's home.

Tim Weaver with Newberg-Dundee Police says detectives received information Friday about a 14-year old minor child who had disclosed several incidents of sexual abuse.

Group Applauds Retailer for Pulling Ads From Big Brother

The group says their call for a boycott will continue until CBS apologizes.

(CLEARWATER, Fla.) - Adam Jasinski Family Network on Disabilities of Florida (FND) is today applauding the action of Lowe’s, the home improvement company. Lowe’s announced that they are pulling their advertising from the CBS show Big Brother because of the use of a slur against persons with disabilities by one of the contestants.

Rich La Belle, Executive Director of FND, stated: "Thank you, Lowe’s, for being a great corporate citizen and taking this courageous action."

Vancouver Police Locate Missing Woman

Vancouver Police Detectives located Shirley Looker in David Douglas Park, Vancouver WA around 5:30 PM.

(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - 67-year old Shirley Marie Looker is missing and her family and the police are both concerned. A missing 67-year old Vancouver woman missing since Saturday was located by police today.

According to family, Looker was last seen around 10:00 PM on Saturday, when she was driven to an area hospital for a serious medical condition by her daughter.

OSP Bend Area Command Patrol Sergeant Recognized as Top Patrol Supervisor in Oregon

Sergeant Brown is the first OSP recipient of the retired "Sergeant John Burright Traffic/Patrol Supervisor of the Year" award.

(BEND, Ore.) - Oregon State Police Sergeant Eric Brown, A Bend-area Oregon State Police patrol sergeant was recognized for his leadership, interagency commitment, and community involvement when he received an award sponsored by the Department Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) as the top patrol supervisor in Oregon.

The award went to Oregon State Police Sergeant Eric Brown, a 24-year OSP veteran assigned to the Bend Area Command office.

Missing California Teenager Recovered Safe in Southern Oregon

The suspect has been charged with Kidnap with Intent to Rape, police believe he may have met the girl on MySpace.

(CENTRAL POINT, Ore.) - 37-year old David Anthony Faboo of Hillsboro, Oregon Oregon State Police, working in cooperation with Yuba County Sheriff's Office and Wheatland Police Department, safely recovered a missing 16-year old girl Sunday in southern Oregon.

An Oregon man was taken into custody during the traffic stop in the Grants Pass area and is presently held on criminal charges filed in California that have raised his bail amount well above one million dollars.

Additional details, sketch released regarding rape suspect

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - Sketch of Gresham, oregon rape suspect from Feb 4 2008 Gresham Police detectives have released a sketch and put up a $1,000 reward for information related to the rape that occurred on February 4th. The rapist at this time remains at large.

Sgt. Claudio Grandjean with Gresham Police says details were originally slow in coming because the woman, who was raped and assaulted near 223rd and Stark, was injured to the extent that she was unable to speak to investigators.
