Keizer Firefighters Join Stairclimb Event for Fourth Year

Participants wear over 50 lbs of firefighting boots, pants, jackets, gloves, helmet and self-contained breathing equipment in racing up the 69 flights of stairs, or 1,311 steps, to reach the top of the building.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Keizer Lieutenant Danny Fisher A team of six Firefighters from the Keizer Fire District will travel to Seattle, Washington on Sunday, March 2nd 2008 to participate in the 17th Annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb, the largest individual firefighter competition in the world.

This is a fund raising event for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and it is the fourth year that a team from the Keizer Fire District has participated in this event.

O`Reilly`s Ironic Blunder With Michelle Obama

Did O'Reilly factor in the consequences for this one?

(Salem, Ore.) - Southern lynching from 1935 in Florida On Tuesday night's episode of Bill O'Reilly's "The Radio Factor", O'Reilly was quoted using the word lynch in regard to Michelle Obama.

O'Reilly's exact statement was, "I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there's evidence, hard facts, that say this is how the woman really feels. If that's how she really feels; that America is a bad country or a flawed nation, whatever; then that's legit. We'll track it down."

Salem Police Seek Assistance in Identifying Driver of Vehicle Involved in Accident

They are trying to locate the driver and passenger who did stop and help at the scene, in order to complete the necessary investigation.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Hit and run The Salem Police Department is seeking assistance in identifying the male driver and female passenger of a newer small black sport utility vehicle that was involved in a minor crash with a skateboard rider on Liberty St NE and Salem Parkway Thursday night, February 20th.

Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada says 18-year old Mark McMahan was riding his skateboard as he crossed Liberty Street at 10:15 PM. That is when a vehicle struck him as it was turning right from Liberty Street onto Salem Parkway.

Water Supply: `ACWA` Passes Senate Unanimously

SB 1069 will provide funds to Umatilla & Morrow Counties and Grants to Oregon communities.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon state capitol The Senate approved a key piece of the Senate Democratic agenda today by voting to pass legislation that addresses water shortages across Oregon, particularly in the Umatilla Basin. In a unanimous vote, the senate passed SB 1069, also known as "ACWA," the Agriculture and Community Water Act.

"The success of this legislation is the result of broad support both in and outside the Capitol," said Senate Majority Leader Richard Devlin (D-Tualatin).

Arrest Made in Sex Abuse Investigation at Day Care Facility

The suspect was arrested for first-degree Rape, first-degree Sodomy and first-degree Sex Abuse.

(BEAVERTON, Ore.) - 22-year old Vladysav Detectives with the Beaverton Police Department arrested twenty-year old Vladysav "Lodick" Volynets-Vasylchenko of Tualatin Thursday in regard to a sex abuse investigation at a private daycare facility in Beaverton.

Sgt. Paul Wandell says the investigation was initiated on February 10th when the mother of an eight-year old female victim informed detectives her daughter had been sexually abused by Volynets-Vasylchenko.

Grants Pass Man Critically Injured While Taking His Dog for a Walk

Critical injury vehicle/pedestrian crash happens on Highway 238 south of Grants Pass.

(GRANTS PASS, Ore.) - A 49-year old man was critically injured Thursday night when he was struck while walking a dog on Highway 238 south of Grants Pass.

According to Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Scott Holsworth, last night at approximately 7:15 PM OSP troopers and local emergency personnel were notified of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on Highway 238 near milepost 9.

Salem Police Seek Public Assistance in Identifying Robbery Suspect

The suspect is male, possibly white, 5'2"-5'4", medium build, wearing a grey hooded coat over a white hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black shoes.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Salem Police Department is asking the public for assistance in identifying a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred at about 7:00 PM on January 31st 2008 at the Plaid Pantry store located at 1504 Broadway Street NE.

The Plaid Pantry Corporation is also offering a $1,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of this suspect who allegedly entered the store alone, told the clerk he had a gun then demanded money.

Federal Fugitive From Missouri Arrested by Deputies in Milwaukie, Oregon

It is alleged that McLaughlin sexually assaulted a family member; which, resulted in the birth of a child, in Missouri.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - 43-year old Thomas Andrew McLaughlin was arrested as a Federal fugitive A Clackamas County Sheriff's Deputy conducting a routine traffic stop Friday, discovered the passenger of this truck to be one the Federal Bureau of Investigations most wanted fugitives.

The black, Ford Ranger, pick-up truck that the deputy stopped was towing a utility trailer with no operating tail-lights, Clackamas Sheriff's Office Spokesman Jim Strovink said. The vehicle was pulled over February 15th at 9:00 PM.
