Police Investigate Fatal Crash West of Rainier

Highway 30 was closed for approximately four hours while the crash was investigated.

(RANIER, Ore.) - Photo of Crash Scene: Oregon State Police Oregon State Police are investigating a fatal crash early Sunday morning on Highway 30 about one mile west of Rainier that led to the death of one person and serious to critical injuries of three others. Troopers on scene say the victim's name and passenger's name are withheld at this time pending next of kin notification.

Body Discovered Near Pistol River Wayside South of Gold Beach

Police rule the death a probable suicide but they didn't find a weapon.

(GOLD BEACH, Ore.) - Death investigation Police on the southern Oregon coast say a man found deceased near the shore line on a beach about 1/3 mile south of Pistol River Wayside Saturday afternoon is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Theft Suspect Taken Into Custody After K-9 Search

The suspect was also booked on an outstanding arrest warrant.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 20-year old Javier Angel-Ornelas of Salem Oregon was arrested on several charges related to car break-ins. A suspected car thief was arrested early this morning around 5:20 AM by Marion County Sheriffs deputies who responded to a report of a person breaking into cars parked along the 4200 block of Vicki Way NE in Salem.

Lieutenant Dan Connor with the Marion County Sheriffs Office ways that while en-route, deputies were given a description of the involved subject. "As Deputies were arriving in the area a male subject was seen matching the description of the possible suspect. As Deputies attempted to contact the man he took off running."

Salem Woman Dies in Crash Near Corbett

Donna Olson was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her grandson, 12-year old Tyler Olson of Salem, received minor injuries and was transported to Legacy Emanuel Hospital.

(CORBETT, Ore.) - Fatal crash near Corbett A Salem-area woman died Saturday morning and her grandson received minor injuries in a three vehicle crash eastbound on Interstate 84 east of the Corbett overpass. Police say icy highway conditions were a contributing factor in this crash and several others on both sides of the freeway during this time.

The crash happened this morning around 9:54 AM, Oregon State Police and Multnomah County Sheriff's Office were assisting with several minor ice-related crashes in both directions on Interstate 84 east of Corbett.

Obama Wins South Carolina

Early counts indicate that Obama will win by a substantial margin.

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) - Barack Obama Senator Barack Obama has won South Carolina, this means the chances of the United States having an African American President have risen substantially.

His race with Hillary Clinton and John Edwards may take on a new form after today. Early exit polls indicated strong support for both Obama and Clinton among South Carolina voters. Black voters make up a large part of South Carolina's registered voters. Their support for Obama was strong but many wondered if white Democratic voters would have what it took to send a black man to the White House.

Remains in Chicago Not Those of Stacy Peterson

News sources report that the body was found about a hundred feet from some train tracks just south of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal.

(CHICAGO) - Stacy Peterson has been missing since October 28th, 2007 Police in Chicago Police say the human remains found near the Chicago River on the city's southwest side are not related to the disappearance of Stacy Peterson. Authorities reported initially that the remains bore a striking similarity.

Deadly Conditions on Oregon Roads and Highways (PHOTOS)

A fatal crash and many more spin outs have officials concerned and hoping drivers use extreme caution.

(SALEM, Ore.) - A fatal, weather related traffic crash at 9:30 AM this morning on South Spring water Road left one driver dead. It happened one-quarter-of-a-mile east of Bakers ferry Road, in Oregon City.

Investigators say a 1982 red Toyota pick-up truck was eastbound on S. Spring water road, east of Bakers ferry road and lost control on the icy pavement. The pick-up truck fished tailed and traveled directly into the westbound lane of travel.

Oregon Health Plan Reservation List Begins Monday

Operators will staff the phones 12 hours a day, Monday through Friday, through Feb. 29.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - health image A 60-line call center will begin taking calls Monday at 7:00 a.m. from low-income Oregon adults wanting to put their names on a reservation list for possible health-care coverage.

The Standard plan, for low-income adults who do not qualify for traditional Medicaid coverage, currently has budget support for a two-year average of 24,000 people. The larger Oregon Health Plan program, known as OHP-Plus, is always open for people who are aged, blind, disabled, children under age 19 and people receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - odot camera The Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon State Police have CLOSED Interstate 84 eastbound between Troutdale and Hood River for indefinite period due to a fatal crash and icy, hazardous conditions in the Columbia River Gorge.

In the Oregon Coast Range, U.S. Highway 26 eastbound and westbound lanes from Staley's Junction to 6 miles east of U.S. Highway 101 Junction is temporarily CLOSED.
