(Earth) - Nota Bene #75 Tough Questions At a distance (as in Zeta Reticuli) the behavior of the inhabitants of Earth appears irrational. Why is it that humans can be so clever and invent things like the iPod, soccer and sliced bread yet don't seem to be aware of the deep hypocrisy in some of their most cherished beliefs?

Democracies don't attack other nations for their oil and religions don't kill in the name of their spiritual founders.

Republicans Candidates in Attack Mode as Iowa Poll Approaches

They're busy getting paid messages out and slinging mud, the game is on.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The White House in Washington D.C. The Democratic contenders may be competitive, but Republican Presidential candidates are having a harder time keeping the bar high as they attack and criticize one another in the final hours leading up to the Iowa poll.

A Des Moines Register final poll showed Senator Barack Obama of Illinois comfortably leading Democrats in Iowa, and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee at the front of the pack on the Republican side.

PTSD Vets Montana: Oncoming Disaster

Phillip Leveque has spent his life as a Combat Infantryman, Physician, Toxicologist and Pharmacologist.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - PTSD The Oregonian Newspaper published an article by Chris Adams of McClatchy Newspapers on December 30th. I read this with utmost disgust. Isn't the VA paying any attention? Isn't Congress paying any attention?

Is anyone other than McClatchy Newspapers paying any heed to this impending disaster for not only our homecoming veterans but also the future enlistees of the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force? The Armed Services and Congress had made a pledge to take care of wounded veterans. Are these servicemen and servicewomen totally expendable?

Mother and Daughter Die from Injuries Sustained in New Year`s Eve Crash

Police say the daughter was riding on her mother's lap in the back of the vehicle without seatbelts.

(ODELL, Ore.) - Fatal crash near Ocell, Oregon, 12-31-07 A mother and her 8-year old daughter both from West Linn died early Tuesday morning at Portland-area hospitals from injuries sustained in a Monday morning crash on Highway 35 south of Odell, police say. A third person remains in critical condition, and Oregon State Police are continuing the investigation.

48-year old Anita Kawecki and 6-year old Anna Kawecki were passengers in a car that lost control on an icy section of Highway 35 south of Odell and was involved in a collision with a Chevrolet Blazer.

Car Crash into Creek Claims One Life on Cornelius Pass Road

One female occupant was found dead in a car.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Death investigation Portland Fire & Rescue crews responded to a report of a car down an embankment and into a creek shortly after 4:00 PM this afternoon on Cornelius Pass Road, approximately a fourth of a mile from St. Helens Road.

Lt. AJ Jackson with Portland Fire & Rescue says people were able to see the vehicle but all the information wasn't clear.

A state trooper's proximity to the crash scene and his subsequent lifesaving efforts likely saved the lives of three people.

(ODELL, Ore.) - Crash scene south of Odell, Oregon, 12-31-07 A serious two-car crash between a 2005 Honda Accord and a 1988 Chevy Blazer occurred this morning at approximately 11:04 AM on SR 35 just south of Odell in Hood River County.

Blazers Defeated by Jazz, Losing Chance for 14th Straight Win

The Blazers led the first quarter but with Kyle Korner, the Jazz slowly took the victory. The final score was 111-101.

(SALT LAKE CITY) - The Portland Trail Blazers lost their chance to secure their 14th straight NBA win as the Utah Jazz took them to task in Salt Lake City. The competition was fierce all the way through but in the third quarter, the Jazz took the lead for the second time. Their lead gained momentum throughout the game.

Getting things going, Travis Outlaw scored a critical three pointer boosting Portland's lead in the first quarter. The Blazers finished the first quarter with a score of 29 over 23.

Trail Blazers Lose to Utah Jazz

The final score was 111-101, Portland was trying for its 14th Straight Victory.

(SALT LAKE CITY) - The Portland Trail Blazers are vying for their 14th straight win against the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City in a close game. Portland had a three second technical called against them just after the Jazz took the lead for the first time in the game during the second quarter.

The Trail Blazers have already surpassed the 12 game streak it had in 2001-02, making the 13 straight wins the second longest streak in franchise history, the longest being 16 games in 1990-91.
