Escaped Killer Located by Portland Police

Christopher Walker has been in the State Hospital in Salem since January 1989 for the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Christopher Walker A 46-year-old psychiatric patient serving time for two counts of Murder who escaped from his state escort yesterday has been found by Portland police.

Christopher Walker was located by police walking near northeast Mallory Ave and northeast Beech Street. Police say he tried to run when officers found him, but he was caught and taken into custody.

Silverton Teen Killed in Single Car Crash

Marion County Sheriff's Office investigators say it appears speed and slick road conditions were factors in the crash.

(SILVERTON, Ore. ) - fatal crash image A Silverton, Oregon teen was killed Thanksgiving morning in a single car crash.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office and the Silverton Fire Department responded to the report of a crash in the 18300 block of North Abiqua Road NE just after 2:00 AM. When crews arrived they found a 1994 Honda Civic had left the road and struck a large tree near the bank of Abiqua Creek.

Report Finds Oregonians Generating Waste at Record Levels

The report provides an annual snapshot of the amounts of materials such as metal, paper, glass and organic materials that are being produced and “recovered.”

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Waste reduction image Oregonians are generating waste at record-high levels, according to figures released today by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality in its 15th annual survey of garbage haulers and private recycling and composting companies.

Oregon’s total waste generation in 2006 reached a record high of 5.75 million tons, or 3,118 pounds per Oregonian per year. For the past two years, Oregon has failed to meet statewide goals of no increase in waste generation. From 2005 to 2006, total waste generation increased 3.9 percent.

Oregon Chosen for Peak Sun Solar Facility

Peak Sun Silicon Corporation will construct a photovoltaic silicon manufacturing facility in Millersburg.

(SALEM, Ore.) - solar cell Oregon continues to be the business location of choice for solar energy companies, with Peak Sun, a photovoltaic silicon manufacturing company, announcing that construction of the first phase of a facility in Millersburg will begin with an $18 million investment.

The project will initially employ 50 workers, with growth to 500 and an additional capital investment of $700 million during phase 2, estimated for completion in 2011.

Missing 9-Year Old In Oak Grove Found Safe

New information indicates that this juvenile was located safe – unharmed - and is reunited with her family in Oak Grove.

(Oak Grove , Ore.) - Missing 9-year old girl from Elk Grove, Oregon The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office was asking for the public's help in seeking a 9-year old girl who failed to return home today, but the girl has now been safely located.

Information received from the Clackamas Sheriff's Office indicates that this juvenile is no longer missing, she was located safe and unharmed. Sheriff's Office Spokesman Jim Strovink says she has been reunited with her family in Oak Grove.

Murderer Makes Unauthorized Exit from Oregon State Hospital Custody

Walker was admitted to the hospital on January 10th 1989 as a forensic commitment on a conviction of two counts of murder from Multnomah County.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com A 46-year-old psychiatric patient serving time for two counts of Murder was reported on unauthorized leave today from the Salem campus of Oregon State Hospital.

The patient is Christopher Walker, who was on a day pass to visit a relative in the Portland area. Walker was admitted to the hospital on January 10th 1989 as a forensic commitment on a conviction of two counts of murder from Multnomah County.
