Oregon Signs Historic Import/Export Agreement With China

With the addition of checking imports from China, the program can address heightened concerns over food safety that have emerged among U.S. consumers in the past year.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Oregon has become the first state to reach an agreement with the People's Republic of China on testing and certification of food products both exported and imported to and from China.

Through its Export Service Program, ODA has agreements to conduct testing and certification of Oregon and U.S. food and agricultural products with several key export markets including Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. The signing of the MOU adds China to the list.

Study Shows Surprisingly Few Negative Impacts on Kids Who Use Marijuana

(SALEM, Ore.) - A new study shows that pot smoking teens often function at better levels than teens who also use tobacco, and better in some ways than kids who abstain from both.

The study also found that those who use only cannabis were more socially driven, and showed no more psychosocial problems than those who had never taken either of the substances.

Car Smashes Into West Linn Home (PHOTOS)

(WEST LINN, Ore.) - A vehicle with two occupants crashed into a home at 655 S. Rosemont Road in West Linn today around 3:30 PM. Clackamas Sheriff Spokesman Jim Strovink says a Portland General Electric power pole was also struck and compromised as result of this crash.

He says emergency agencies headed for the scene, possibly expecting the worst. Instead, both people in the vehicle received only minor injuries.

Nick Hogan, Son of Hulk Hogan, Faces Felony Charges in Car Crash

Hogan's son was booked on the charges at the Pinellas County Jail and later released on $10,000 bail.

(CLEARWATER, Fla.) - 17-year-old Nicholas Bollea, the son of professional wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan, was arrested Wednesday morning on a warrant for Reckless Driving Involving Serious Bodily Injury resulting from an August 26th, wreck which seriously injured his passenger, 22-year-old John Graziano III.

Investigators interviewed several witnesses who stated they saw Bollea and Daniel Jacobs racing, before Bollea lost control of the his vehicle and crashed into a tree. Graziano, a Marine who had just completed a tour of duty in Iraq, remains hospitalized, reportedly in a coma.

Blackhawk Joins Search for Missing Oregon Professor

(BEND, Ore.) - An aircraft from the Oregon Army National Guard has joined the search in Central Oregon for U of O Professor Daming Xu. The military helicopter was sent to the scene after a request from the Office of Emergency Management and Lane and Deschutes County Sheriff's Office.

They departed the Redmond Airport at 8:00 AM this morning and assisted with transporting ground crews to different search areas prior to beginning their aerial search.

War Crimes Trial Against Serb Ultranationalist Underway

(THE HAGUE) - The Serbian ultranationalist politician Vojislav Šešelj used “poisonous ideas” to incite war crimes against non-Serbs during the Balkan wars of the 1990s, prosecutors at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia said today as they outlined their case at his trial.

The prosecution said Mr. Šešelj – the president of the Serbian Radical Party – made speeches that led to the murder, torture and persecution of Croat, Muslim and other non-Serb civilians and their expulsion from parts of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Vojvodina region of Serbia between August 1991 and at least September 1993.
