(SALEM, Ore. ) - Emergency crews are on the scene of a four vehicle crash on Highway 221 at Zena Road. The aftermath of the crash has traffic blocked and detoured. A semi-truck involved in the crash shows substantial damage.

A witness at the scene told Salem-News that the truck driver was not at fault, "The 18-wheeler looked like he tried to avoid the accident" the witness added, reported that a number of cars appeared to have crashed into the truck.

Senate Approves Equal Access to Anti-Meth Programs for Tribes

In a recent Bureau of Indian Affairs survey, 70 percent of tribal law enforcement agencies indicated that meth is the greatest public safety threat to their reservation.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The U.S. Senate has approved Oregon Senator Gordon Smith’s legislation granting Native American communities equal access to federal funds to combat methamphetamine. Tribes were unintentionally left out as eligible program applicants in the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act of 2005.

“Meth use has a devastating impact on our communities and Indian country is no exception,” Smith said. “We are finally correcting the law to ensure Native American communities have full access to all the tools needed to fight the spread of meth.”

Iowa Republicans Set Jan 3rd for Presidential Caucus

Democrats have traditionally chosen the same date as Republicans, but have not yet announced their decision.

(DES MOINES, Iowa) - The Republican Party of Iowa's State Central Committee voted to hold its first-in-the-nation caucus on the evening of January 3, 2008.

"With under 80 days to go, this is a huge help to our counties and county chairs to get the ball rolling and start organizing. They have 1,784 precinct caucus meetings to run, thousands of volunteers to recruit and our presidential candidates deserve a set date," said Executive Director Chuck Laudner.

Salem Apartments Sold

Eastland Court, a 43-unit apartment complex in Salem has sold for $2.475 million or $57,558 per unit. The buyer is T.G. LLC.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Hagerman Frick O'Brien, a real estate investment firm located in Portland, Ore., recently arranged the sale of the 64-Unit Evergreen Park and the 43-unit Eastland Court Apartments in Salem, Oregon.

The Evergreen Park Apartments, a 64-unit apartment complex in Salem, has sold for $3 million or $46,875 per unit. The buyer is M&M holdings of San Jose, CA and the seller is D. Darin Davison of Salem.

Oregon Pastor Arrested for Sexually Abusing 8 Women

Detectives are currently seeking anyone with additional information in this ongoing investigation.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Portland Police Sexual Assault Detectives have arrested a 38-year-old pastor who allegedly sexually abused eight women associated with his church.

Portland police spokesman Brian Schmautz says pastor Sergio Alvarizares was arrested Monday at his home in Ridgefield, Washington, and is being held on on one count of Rape in the First Degree, two counts of Attempted Rape in the First Degree and ten counts of Sex Abuse in the First Degree, after a two week investigation involving the victims associated with the church known as -- “Father’s House” -- located at 1725 Northeast Alberta Street.

High Wind Watch on Oregon Coast; Snow Advisory for Cascades

Snow showers in the north and central Oregon Cascades will continue today, slowly tapering off later this afternoon.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - A High Wind Watch is in effect from tonight through Thursday afternoon for the north and central Oregon Coast.

A strong pacific low pressure system will bring strong winds to the north and central Oregon Coast late tonight and into Thursday. South winds will increase to 35 to 45 MPH -- with peak wind gusts of up to 60 MPH are possible in coastal communities -- and 75 MPH along the headlands and beaches.

Albany Police Seek Help in Locating Bank Robbery Suspect

Investigators hope that anyone with information on the possible identity of the suspect will call the Albany Police Department Detective Unit.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Albany's Bank of America branch at 1250 SE Waverly Drive was robbed Tuesday at 11:48 AM. Police say the suspect left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is a male with short hair of unknown color, approximately 50 to 55 years old, five foot ten inches to six feet tall, and approximately 200 pounds.
