Hillsboro Woman Arrested in Animal Neglect Case‏

Police say that when initially seen, the woman's dog was very thin and had ammonia burns on it's paws and legs.

(HILLSBORO, Ore.) - Shannon Lee Shelton of Hillsboro was arrested for Animal Neglect-2, and initiating a false report Hillsboro Police say they have arrested a woman for a case that involved the abuse of a small pit bull puppy. 30-year old Shannon Lee Shelton of Hillsboro was taken into custody today for Animal Neglect-2, and Initiating a False Report.

Lt. Michael Rouches with Hillsboro P.D. says this case stemmed from Shelton bringing her 6 month old pit bull puppy to the Bonnie Hays Washington County Animal Shelter last week.

Police Say Alcohol Led to Fatal Crash in Hines

Police were going to try to stop the vehicle just prior to the fatal crash.

(HINES, Ore.) - Photo of fatal crash scene at Hines, Oregon 10-16-07 A Burns-area woman died from injuries suffered in a high speed crash Monday night on Highway 20 near milepost 129 at the Hines city limits. The crash was witnessed by an Oregon State Police trooper and Hines police officer. Police say the victim died early Tuesday morning after initial medical care was provided on scene.

Vessel in Trouble Off Oregon Coast Rescued by Coast Guard

The Coast Guard is presently enroute back to port with the disabled vessel in tow.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - The Coast Guard is in the process of towing the crew of a disabled 65-foot sailing vessel back to Tillamook Bay, Oregon.

The Coast Guard says they received a report via VHF-FM radio just after 8:00 AM that the sailing vessel Hawaiian Chieftain, with 12 people aboard, was foundering in 14-foot seas and 35 knot winds. It was also reported that the sails were lowered due to the wind speed and that the vessel's inboard 490-horsepower engine has seized.

University of Oregon Receives $74.5 Million Donation

Since 1990, Lorry I. Lokey has contributed more than $400 million to charity, with 98 percent going to universities and high schools.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Lorry Lokey A $74.5 million gift from philanthropist Lorry I. Lokey -- the largest single academic donation in University of Oregon history -- will dramatically transform science teaching and research at the UO. The gift will also benefit a wide range of other programs on campus, UO President Dave Frohnmayer announced Tuesday.

The bulk of the $74.5 million gift, about $50 million, will go toward the Lorry I. Lokey Science Advancement and Graduate Education Initiative, which features $20 million for endowed faculty support.

Keizer Neighborhoods Hit With Graffiti

This specific series of graffiti incidents happened on Clearview Ave NE, Homestead Court NE, River Road N, Plymouth Drive NE, Appleblossom Avenue N and Krystie Ct NE

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Paint can Keizer Police say that sometime during the weekend between Friday October 12th and Monday October 15th, multiple residential, commercial and public utility structures were targeted by acts of graffiti vandalism.

Captain Jeff Kuhns with Keizer Police says the vandals struck six different streets in Keizer, "Most of the twelve reported graffiti incidents appear to be gang-related totaling an estimated $1,000 in damage clean-up costs."

Two Salem Firefighters Hospitalized After Fighting Blaze

A Jaguar that was sitting near the home apparently lit on fire, firefighters still don't know why.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Fire in Salem, Oregon 10-16-07 Two firefighters were injured while battling a house fire today at 502 Snow White Way SE in Salem. The call for the two-alarm fire came in at 10:16 AM, according to Salem Fire Spokesman Bill Holmstrom.

"When firefighters arrived on scene they had the entire back area of the home engulfed in flames. A second alarm was called at 10:21 AM sending more firefighters and fire apparatus to the scene."

Talk Show Host Makes Accusation Against Oregon Governor

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Oregon Governor Kulongoski while visiting Oregon National Guard forces in Afghanistan last December Oregonians sure love conflict, don't they? Following on the path of a trail of problems currently swirling around Sheriff Bernie Giusto, local talk show host Lars Larson has placed Oregon's current Governor in the center of accusations that he too knew about a former Governor's affair with his babysitter, and didn't say anything.

Larson believes that the Governor violated ethic standards by pointing former Governor Neil Goldschmidt to the Board of Higher Education. Larson alleges that Kulongoski knew that Goldschmidt had a sexual relationship with a 14-year old girl who was a family babysitter.

Missing Newberg Man Located

Sheriff Jack Crabtree says he is thankful that Mr. Callas was located safe and sound.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Yamhill County Sheriff`s Office badge, Oregon The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office terminated a Search and Rescue operation just after 12:00 PM today for 55-year old Donald Stuart Callas of rural Newberg, Oregon.

Sheriff Jack Crabtree says this concludes an intensive search that spanned a 2 day period involving deputies, search and rescue volunteers, canines, air operations, and the Salvation Army.
