Police Seek Convenience Store Suspect Who Fired Gun During Robbery

Police are looking for the suspect, they say he is a white male, 18-20 years old, five foot six inches tall, clean-shaven with a thin build. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

(MILWAUKIE, Ore.) - The 47-year-old store clerk in Milwaukie was robbed by a man while taking out the trash Saturday night just before 11:00 PM.

Police say he was confronted near the front of the store by the suspect who was brandishing a handgun. It happened at a convenience store in the 8900 block of SE 42nd.

Salem Teen Killed in Parking Lot Stabbing

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem police are investigating a stabbing that left a Salem teen dead.

Investigators say that police were called to the McDonald's restaurant at the corner of Lancaster Dr. NE and Devonshire Dr. NE just after midnight. When officers arrived they found that a 19-year-old Hispanic male had been stabbed during a disturbance. Detectives investigating the case have identified the victim has as Esteven Zapata, a resident of Salem.

Salem Man Arrested for DUII on Oregon Coast

44-year-old John Gibson was taken to the Lincoln County Jail where he refused a breath test.

(DEPOE BAY, Ore. ) - A Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy arrested a Salem man for DUII while driving on Highway 101 near Depoe Bay.

Deputy Ryan McPartlin was on a traffic stop in Depoe Bay when a citizen from the area stopped to let him know about a DUII driver on highway 101. Deputy McPartlin noticed the vehicle driving south on highway 101 and followed it to the Wing Wa restaurant where it parked.

Crystal Apple Nominees Announced

Crystal Apple Awards honors educators making a significant impact in the lives of children. This year's event takes place at Salem’s historic Elsinore Theater.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Fifty-five local educators have been nominated to be one of a dozen or so who’ll be honored with a 2007 Crystal Apple Award.

This year's list of nominees includes counselors, custodians, teachers, office managers and administrators, all the professionals who help make a school tick. Of the 55 nominees, 52 are employees of the Salem-Keizer School District and three are from area private schools.

One man wants to know what a person has to go through in order to become a medical marijuana "caregiver." Leveque says a person can be a caregiver under Oregon State Law if a patient lists them that way. Every patient is entitled to a caregiver, and the person can then transport marijuana legally and grow it on behalf of the patient.

Remains Identified as Missing Salem Man

Police say Leonardo Gonzalez has been indicted for the murder of Christopher Marcus Lampkin and a trial is currently scheduled to begin on November 5th in Marion County Circuit Court.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Subsequent DNA testing of human remains discovered in early September on a Yamhill County farm have been confirmed that the body was that of Christopher Marcus Lampkin.

Salem Police executed the search warrant at 16006 SW Oldsville Road in McMinnville as part of the ongoing investigation into Christopher Marcus Lampkin's murder.

Kucinich: Trade Issues Behind Economic, Immigration Problems

He says the immigration issue is in many ways becoming a scapegoat.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich told audiences in California and Oregon this week that the United States would not be able to resolve its economic and immigration issues until it resolves its trade policies.

Kucinich addressed groups as far north as Seaside, Oregon, where he repeated it to a rousing reception at the Oregon AFL-CIO State Convention Sunday night.
