Benton County Marijuana Seizure Larger than First Estimated

One person was arrested at the growing operation and is likely to face federal charges.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - The largest marijuana seizure in Benton County history is much larger than officials initially thought.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office estimated the sophisticated growing operation near Alsea Falls had produced over one thousand marijuana plants. After an exhaustive count that took three days, the sheriff’s office says 7,951 total marijuana plants were seized in the September 20th raid.

Police Investigating Woodburn Stabbing

The suspect is described as Hispanic, 6'0 feet tall, thin build, and short black hair.

(WOODBURN, Ore. ) - Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred outside a market Woodburn market Thursday night.

A police spokesman says they received a call around 8:30 PM, saying that a large group of people were fighting outside the A & J Market, located at Front and Harrison streets. When police officers arrived, they found 30-year-old Carlos Guerrero Villarreal with a stab wound to the stomach.

Nevada Woman Dies in Crash on Oregon Highway 97

(CRESENT, Ore.) - A 58-year old Nevada woman died Thursday afternoon when her vehicle crossed the center line on Highway 97 in Crescent and collided with the side of a commercial truck. The victim, whose name is withheld pending next of kin notification, died after arrival at a Bend-area hospital.

Salem Building in Danger of Collapsing

(SALEM, Ore.) - A large crack in an old abandoned building in Salem has a street closed down and firefighters on scene keeping people at bay. They have also evacuated a nearby building which could also be in danger.

Salem Fire's Public Information Officer Bill Holmstrom, says that around 6:00 PM, they were notified by a contractor from a construction site at the corner of Front Street NE and Court Street NE, who stated that the vacant building next to them had large cracks in it.

1/4 Pound of Methamphetamine Seized During Traffic Stop

Police say the meth found hidden in the vehicle is worth an estimated $4,000.

(THE DALLES, Oregon) - Police say two men were arrested Tuesday night after they were determined to be in possession of a large amount of methamphetamine. It happened during a traffic stop on Interstate 84 about seven miles east of The Dalles.

Teams Seeks Donations‏ for Sheriff Search and Rescue

The Marion County Sheriff's Office relies almost exclusively on volunteers to provide Search and Rescue services in Marion County.

(SALEM, Ore.) - For the last several years, seven volunteer Search and Rescue Teams in Marion County have asked a local firm to raise funds to benefit Search and Rescue operations in Marion County.

The majority of these Search and Rescue Teams are Non-Profit organizations, and rely heavily on donations from the public to fund necessary equipment and training. Private donations help them to complete their mission in finding lost or injured people in the outdoors, and saving lives.
