O.J. Simpson Charged By Las Vegas Police For Armed Robbery

Simpson is charged with 2 counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, which carries a possible 35-year sentence for each count.

(LAS VEGAS) - Las Vegas authorities say O.J. Simpson will be booked on several felony charges stemming from an alleged armed robbery at the Palace Station casino-hotel on Thursday.

The case apparently involves sports collectors, and Simpson's football memorabilia.

Simpson has said he and the people with him were retrieving items that belonged to him, and that no guns were involved.

Fatal Traffic Crash on Highway 99W at Lafayette

A serious accident in Yamhill County takes one life.

(LAFAYETTE, OR. ) - fatal accident logo A two-vehicle accident at Hwy 99W and Bridge Street in Lafayette was reported at 5:35 PM Sunday. Initial information from officials confirms one fatality, one person was taken by LifeFlight to an unknown hospital, and others involved had non-life threatening injuries. No names of the victims have been released.

Police say that Highway 99W may be closed at that location, and travelers are recommended to use alternative routes. Traffic is being detoured on sidestreets to get around the scene.

Willamette University Campaign Effort Hits $100 Million Mark

The $125 million campaign is focused on growing the endowment which stands at approximately $285 million.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Willamette University About 650 Willamette University alumni attending reunion weekend events were among the first to hear the news: The University’s Campaign for Willamette had hit the $100 million mark.

The gift that made the difference was a check for $1 million presented to University President M. Lee Pelton Saturday evening from members of the Class of 1957.

In one 13-month period between April 2006 and May 2007, the University raised $25 million.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - oregon duck fight The University of Oregon football team and fans were without their popular mascot yesterday during the Ducks 52-21 win over Fresno State.

That's because the University suspended him for poor ConDUCKt after a incident, or fight, with the Houston Cougar during the Ducks home opener. Oregon won the game, 48-27.

The Duck was said to be upset because the Cougar did the mascot's trademarked push-ups after a touchdown.

Thai Plane Crash in Phuket Kills 88

Weather in Phuket has been bad for the past several days, with thunderstorms and high wind gusts.

(PHUKET, Thailand) - one two go airplane A MD-82 filled with foreign tourists crashed Sunday as it tried to land in pouring rain on the island of Phuket.

Officials said One-Two-Go Airlines flight OG269 split in two and bursting into flames, as it skidded off the runway and crashed into trees. At least 88 people were killed and 42 injured.

Phuket is one of Thailand's leading tourist destinations.

It is reported that he and his wife, Kim Spady, have their four minor children who had previously been placed in the state's custody due to the pending sexual assault case.

Oregon CAP Assisting In Search‏ for Steve Fossett

A spokesman says additional Oregon CAP aircraft and aircrews remain on standby alert to also assist in search operations.

(BROOKINGS, Ore.) - Oregon CAP pilot A Cessna 182 search aircraft and 3 man aircrew from the Oregon Wing of the U.S. Civil Air Patrol from the South Coast Unit based in Brookings, Oregon is presently involved in the search for Steven Fossett.

Lt.Col. Thomas Traver, the Oregon CAP Public Affairs Officer, says the aircraft was sent to the Nevada CAP Incident Command Center for search assignment Friday morning, "To augment aircrews who have been conducting an intensive search for the missing aviator for nearly 2 weeks."

Driver Arrested Following Serious Injury Crash Near Molalla

One of the passengers suffered an amputated arm from the collision and was transported by LifeFlight to OHSU hospital in critical condition.

(MOLALLA, Ore. ) - crash image A Molalla-area man was arrested for DUII and Assault charges after he lost control of his pickup Friday night on Highway 211 west of Molalla and crashed.

Two of his three passengers were seriously injured.

The preliminary investigation indicates a 2006 Dodge pickup driven by Marcos Gonzales-Santos, age 34, from Molalla, was westbound on Highway 211 at a very high rate of speed when it lost control trying to negotiate a curve.
