New Announcement on Molalla Black Tail Deer

A state officials says that are at the tail end of the result of somebody who didn’t leave wildlife to be wild.

(SALEM, Ore.) - It is possible that a Molalla family will be allowed to keep a deer that they raised, that word follows a press conference that was held today at Oregon Fish and Wildlife Headquarters. Nothing however has been set in stone or ink at this point by state officials.

Rick Hargrave, the Information and Education Manager for ODFW, says Director Roy Elicker is exploring all options, and one of those is returning the deer to the family.

State of Oregon Says Privately Owned Deer Have to Go

Oregon State Police, working with Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, took the deer because they say one was illegally taken from the wild and both were being held captive illegally.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - State Wildlife officials seized two deer from a Molalla home this week that had been raised by a local family, citing Oregon law that makes it illegal to possess a wild animal.

Now rumors are floating about that the family is going to have the two deer named Snowball and Bucky returned, but state officials say that no decision has been reached that would allow the animals to be privately owned. The pair of black-tail deer removed by the state were placed in a secure facility under the care of licensed veterinarians.

Eugene Driver Cited After Female Passenger Falls Out of Moving Car

The 17-year old girl suffered serious injuries.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - A 23-year old Eugene man was cited for DUII, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor after an early Thursday morning incident that seriously injured his 17-year old girlfriend when she fell out an open window of the car he was driving while rounding a curve.

Thursday at approximately 5:00 AM, a state police dispatch center received reports of a 17-year old girl being seriously injured in a traffic-related incident somewhere between Eugene and Florence.

Oregon Fall Beach Cleanup is Saturday

(NEWPORT, Ore. ) - On Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, is the time and the beach is the place for all Oregonians to show their commitment to the breathtaking Oregon coast.

With 42 sites to choose from spanning the entire coastline, volunteers can come down to the beach.

Volunteers simply check in, pickup a bag and stroll down their favorite beaches to cleanup unsightly marine debris, such as plastic water bottles and soda can rings.

Horizon Air Expects Weekend Cancellations Due to Q400 Inspections

Rabid Bat Found in Corvallis

Rabies is a viral disease that affects the nervous system of humans and mammals, and is almost 100 percent fatal once symptoms begin.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Officials from Benton County Environmental Health have confirmed a dead bat found in North Corvallis has tested positive for rabies.

In Oregon this year, six animals have tested positive for rabies. A witness reported seeing a cat with the bat in its mouth. The cat was located, and it was verified that it had been vaccinated for rabies.

Alaska Islanders Flee Raging Sea

According to village elders, approximately 50 years ago the ocean coast was 1.5 miles from Kivalina.

(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) - The Coast Guard is monitoring fuel storage tanks in Kivalina that may become damaged due to heavy rain, 35-knot winds and 9-foot seas eroding soil on the nearby ocean coast.

Presently, the fuel tanks are approximately 30 feet from the shore containing about 240,000 gallons of diesel fuel and gasoline. Residents are using sandbags to reinforce the sea wall.

Fewer than 400 people reside in Kivalina. Kivalina is located on the tip of an eight-mile barrier reef located between the Chukchi Sea and Kivalina River.

Oregon Guard Soldier Receives Purple Heart for Wounds Received in 2005‏

McCrary also received the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Badge, and the Oregon Faithful Service Award.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The prevailing opinion at Staff Sgt. Tim McCrary's Purple Heart ceremony at Camp Withycombe today was that the award was well deserved. But the comments were quickly followed with, "and a long time coming".

Because of lost paperwork, and delays by the Army, McCrary's Purple Heart citation wasn't processed until recently – even though he sustained injuries over two years ago.
