Teens Face Serious Charges Over Explosive Device

One of the teens reportedly said he "did not intend to hurt anyone," was not a "'bomb' person," and was only "experimenting."

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - A "fairly sophisticated explosive device" was discovered July 4th in the wetlands adjacent to Happy Valley Park in Clackamas, a popular location for families.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Jim Strovink says nobody was injured by the device; but two teenagers are in custody and face serious charges.

Death Investigation: Salem Man Drowns at Silver Falls Park

Rescue personnel responded to the scene and found the victim underwater about five hours after he went in.

(SILVERTON, Ore.) - A 22-year old Salem man died Wednesday night while wading in one of the waterfall pools at Silver Falls State Park and stepped off a ledge into deep water and drowned. The victim reportedly did not know how to swim.

At approximately 6:30 PM on July 4th, 22-year old Lisandro Perez of Salem, was wading about chest-deep in the water with his brother when he stepped off a ledge into deeper water and went under.

Crash on I-5 Leaves Keizer Woman Fatally Injured

Two small children survived, but the 19-year old woman driving the van has died from her injuries.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - A 19-year old Keizer woman died from injuries suffered in a two vehicle crash July 2nd, on Interstate 5 about ten miles south of Albany.

The Lane County Medical Examiner has notified Oregon State Police that Alicia D. Stefanek of Keizer, died July 3rd from injuries sustained in the crash.

(SEATTLE) - During the week of July 15th, 2007, nearly 2,000 Census Bureau field representatives will interview about 72,000 households across the nation for the monthly Current Population Survey.

Southern Oregon Coast Closed to Shellfish Harvesting

Closure runs from south jetty at Florence to California.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - The Oregon Department of Agriculture and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife jointly announce the closure of recreational and commercial shellfish harvesting from the area south of the jetties at the Siuslaw River, at Florence, to the California border due to elevated levels of paralytic shellfish poisoning or PSP toxins.

The closure includes clams and mussels found on the beaches, rocks, and jetties in this section of the Oregon Coast.

Amber Alert Issued for 12-Year Old Tacoma Girl

(TACOMA, Wash.) - The Tacoma Police Department and the State of Washington issued an Amber Alert on Thursday morning after a 12-year old girl was apparently abducted Wednesday night.

Police say Zina Linnik is a 12 year old white, Ukranian female with blond hair. She stands four feet ten inches and weighs approximately 80 pounds.

Deputies Make Two Arrests in Grande Ronde Fires

The motive for both fires is unclear at this time police say, and their investigation is continuing.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Polk County Sheriff's Office has made arrest of two males who they say are connected to the fires reported at Grand Ronde Elementary School and the Church of the Nazarene in Grand Ronde.

After continuing investigations, Polk County Deputies arrested 18-year old Larry Wayne Whitley of Grand Ronde on on July 4th at 11:48 PM.

House Fire Blamed on Improper Disposal of Fireworks

Two firefighters suffered very minor injuries.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Fire Investigators have determined the cause of the fire last night at 5716 SW Hamilton St.

The fire started outside in the back yard from improper disposal of legal fireworks.

Several sparkler sticks were put in a plastic garbage can that contain paper and other trash.
