Six People Pulled from Oregon Coastal Waters Tuesday

A teenage boy is presumed dead after disappearing yesterday while wading in the waves with friends near Cannon Beach.

(SEASIDE, Ore. ) - A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued two swimmers from the waters near Seaside on Tuesday.

Coast Guard Air Station Astoria received a call from 911 operators at 5:44 PM that three swimmers had been caught in a riptide and were pulled out to sea.

Governor Wants Simpsons Movie Premiere in Oregon

Fox is holding a competition between sixteen Springfields across the United States to host the American premiere.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski is encouraging his fellow Oregonians to support Springfield, Oregon’s bid to host the premiere of The Simpsons Movie by casting their vote online by July 9th.

“With Simpsons creator Matt Groening a native Oregonian and references to our state littered across the show, I think it is clear that the Simpson’s Springfield is Springfield, Oregon,” said Governor Kulongoski.

Salem-Area Blood Supply Running Low

Swimmer Rescued Near Warrenton Monday (VIDEO)

(SEATTLE, Wash.) - A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued a swimmer from the waters near Warrenton, Oregon, Monday. They received a relayed call from 911 operators at 11:01 AM that two swimmers had been caught in a riptide and were pulled out to sea.

An HH-60 helicopter crew was diverted to the scene and airlifted one of the swimmers from the water. The other swimmer managed to swim to shore on his own prior to the crew's arrival.

(SEATTLE, Wash.) - The Coast Guard was requested to help a vessel in distress off of Washington's Point Partidge Monday.

Four people aboard a 27-foot pleasure craft called for help at 12:43 PM, reporting that they saw water and smoke in their engine compartment.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - A 911 tape of the call a motorist made after witnessing the car sail off Oregon's Highway 26 June 8th has been released. The car was driven by a California priest and his traveling companion, their bodies were discovered Sunday by a Civil Air Patrol plane.

An intense search for the two was underway at the time their red compact car was spotted. It had gone off the highway into a steep ravine.

Lance Corporal Juan M. Garcia Schill, 20, of Grants Pass, Oregon died July 2nd while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq.
