Counterfeit Colgate Toothpaste Found in Four States

The counterfeit toothpaste can be easily recognized because it is labelled as "Manufactured in South Africa."

(NEW YORK) - colgate toothpaste photo The Colgate–Palmolive Company today warned that counterfeit toothpaste falsely packaged as "Colgate" has been found in several dollar-type discount stores in four states: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.

There are indications that this product does not contain fluoride and may contain Diethylene Glycol.

The Company stated that it does not use, nor has ever used, Diethylene Glycol as an ingredient in Colgate toothpaste anywhere in the world.

Former UN Chief Kurt Waldheim Dead at 88

Long after he left office, he remained a symbol of Austria's difficulties to accept responsibility for Nazi war crimes.

(VIENNA, Austria) - Kurt Waldheim photo Kurt Waldheim, the former UN Secretary-General who was elected president of Austria despite an international scandal about his service in the Wehrmacht in the Second World War, has died.

He was 88.

The Austrian state broadcaster ORF said that Waldheim, who was hospitalised in Vienna last month because of an infection, died of heart failure.

Salem Adds E-Permitting Service

City joins 17 other cities and counties in offering customers online building permits.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - business news image Starting today, contractors building in Salem can buy simple permits from the city any time of the day or night, seven days a week via the Internet at www.BuildingPermits.Oregon.gov.

The site, hosted by the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services’ Building Codes Division, allows contractors to apply and pay for multiple permits from multiple jurisdictions in one transaction.

Marion County began offering online permitting in April.

Highway 20 East of Bend Re-Opened after Semi-Trailer Fire

OSP says the driver will not face any charges in the incident.

(BEND, Ore. ) - highway truck fire Highway 20 about sixty miles east of Bend near Hampton was reopened early Thursday morning after a nearly 6-hour closure caused by a fire to a cargo of cardboard on a semi-trailer.

The load and trailer have been moved off the highway as it continued to burn while it was monitored by ODOT and BLM personnel.

The driver, Michael Asbury, age 30, no known address available, was able to separate the trailer before the flames caused any damage to the truck.

(ALBANY, Ore. ) - fire investigation image The Albany Fire Department is currently working with the Albany Police Department on the investigation of a series of fires that have happened within the past three days.

On Monday, at about 2:00 AM, the Albany Fire Department was called to Cascades West located at 1510 SE Queen where two dumpsters were on fire.

Wednesday morning at 3:33 AM, fire crews were called back to Cascades West where the dumpster had again been ignited.

(GRESHAM, Ore. ) - Douglas Richard York Since 03/24/07 The Gresham Police Department has been working a series of armed robberies with a lone white male described as the primary suspect and either displaying or implying a weapon.

Gresham Detectives, working in conjunction with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and the Portland Police Bureau, were able to identify a suspect in these robberies following tips sent to CCSO and the Portland Police Bureau.

Woman Dies in Collision with Semi Farm Truck

The truck was was towing a trailer with a near full 2200 gallon tank of liquid fertilizer and spraying equipment.

(ST. PAUL, Ore. ) - fatal crash image Just after 7:15 AM Tuesday morning, Marion County Sheriff's Deputies responded to McKay Rd NE and Gearin Rd NE north of St. Paul on a report of a motor vehicle crash.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office Crash Team in investigating a head on collision between a large semi type farm truck and a Nissan 200SX coup.

The driver of the car, a 25 year old female, died at the scene.

Oregon Guard Blackhawk Helicopter Crews Undergo Chemical Weapons Training (VIDEO)

The training is something that the federal government requires the state National Guard units to participate in.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Blackhawk helicopter crews from the Oregon National Guard spent time in McMinnville Wednesday; they were there to participate in a special chemical training exercise.

The scenario is based on a terrorist incident.

The people participating in the training exercise say it is hard work.

The actors are portraying people who are very sick from a chemical attack; and the flight crews have to conduct the training with special NBC or Nuclear Biological Chemical warfare gear.
