Three Escape Injury in Sailboat Grounding on Oregon Coast

The woman is described as a white female in her 20's about 5'6", 120 lbs, with brown or red hair, wearing a white long sleeve shirt with a zippered front, dark pants and blue backpack.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - A McMinnville man is behind bars today after police seized computers, video equipment and pornographic magazines and movies from his McMinnville apartment.

Since March, McMinnville and Salem police have been investigating Internet downloads of child pornography by the man.

Newport Police Investigating Two Arson Fires

A car, boat and motorcycle were damaged by the fires.

(NEWPORT, Ore. ) - The Newport Police Department is investigating a series of arson fires that occurred Monday morning.

Police say the first incident occurred just after 2:00 AM. Neighbors to a residence on SW Brook St. near W. Olive St. smelled and heard a fire burning.

They discovered a gas can had been set on fire next to their neighbors home and a parked motorcycle. The fire was reported and extinguished by the same neighbors.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - The Salem-Keizer School District is holding a Internet Safety Workshop this week to help parents protect their children from internet crimes.

Admission is free, registration is not required, and childcare will not be provided.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, 6:30 PM, at Houck Middle School (1155 Connecticut SE. The workshop will be followed by a legislative update by Rep. Kevin Cameron.

Oregon Based Winery First to Use Certified Sustainable Cork Stoppers

Willamette Valley Vineyards was recently awarded FSC Chain-of-Custody certification by the Rainforest Alliance.

(TURNER, Ore. ) - The Rainforest Alliance is toasting Willamette Valley Vineyards, which is set to become the first winery in the world to use cork stoppers harvested from responsibly managed forestlands certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

Willamette Valley Vineyards, based in Turner, Oregon, produces some 100,000 cases of principally Pinot Noir annually that is distributed throughout the United States, Canada and the Pacific Rim.

Starting with the 2006 vintage Pinot Noir that will be bottled in July 2007, the winery will begin using FSC-certified cork stoppers in all its bottles.

New Web sites like whosarat.com devoted to exposing the identities of informants who cooperate with the police are making federal prosecutors furious and prompting calls to limit the public access of electronic files and databases.

(SALEM, Ore.) - One of the nation's most controversial Websites, whosarat.com, was the subject of media reports early Tuesday, but where did it go? The site, a target of Justice Department officials, has been off the air Tuesday.

Whosarat.com features the names of people who work as "narcs" for police, typically after they are busted. It is part of the new "Stop Snitching" movement. While it makes families nervous to learn that they are living near a sex offender, this site is designed to warm drug dealers if an informant moves into their neighborhood.
