Dalton’s Law Approved by House Judiciary Committee

Once enacted, Dalton’s Law would require vehicle location services to provide vehicle location information to law enforcement when life is danger or when crimes are committed.

(SALEM) - Oregon State Representative Donna Nelson (R-McMinnville) celebrated an important milestone towards enacting Dalton’s Law.

House Bill 3176, named after the late Dalton Robertson, was unanimously approved by the House Judiciary Committee and will now proceed to the floor of the House of Representatives for a vote.

83-Year Old Man Reported Missing From Gold Beach on Oregon Coast

83-year old William Glenn Boyer is from Gold Beach.

(GOLD BEACH, Ore.) - Police on the Oregon coast are looking for an 83-year old man who was last seen around noon on Saturday.

Family members of William Glenn Boyer say he had left the family home on Ocean View Drive in the Harbor area at about noon on Saturday, April 21st.

These family members say they became concerned that Mr. Boyer, who needs medicine on a daily basis, had not returned.

State Medical Examiner`s Office ID`s Drug Lot Preparation Error as Cause of Three NW Deaths

ApotheCure Inc., based in Dallas, Texas, distributed the drug lot to the Center for Integrative Medicine in Portland, Oregon.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - An investigation by the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office revealed that a drug lot preparation error led to two, and possibly three, deaths due to colchicine toxicity in Oregon and Washington. Two of the deaths occurred in Portland and the other death occurred in Yakima County, Washington.

According to Dr. Christopher Young, Deputy State Medical Examiner, the investigation revealed that the toxicity was the result of an error by ApotheCure Inc. where an intravenous preparation of colchicine was prepared at nearly 10 times the desired concentration.

Man Tries to Lure Three Little Girls Into His Car

(GLADSTONE, Ore.) - Gladstone Police are looking for a man who ordered three little girls into his car Thursday. Fortunately, the girls were able to get away from the man, but they say their problems with the man continued throughout yesterday afternoon.

The three girls, aged 13, 10 and 4, were playing in Nick Shannon Memorial Park on Valley View Rd in Gladstone yesterday around 1:30 PM according to Gladstone Police Sgt. Lynne Benton, when the adult male, driving a shiny maroon Toyota ordered them into his car.

Oregon State Police Detectives Arrest Molalla Juvenile in Sex Abuse Investigation

The juvenile was transported to Donald E. Long Home detention facility in Portland where he will be detained pending juvenile court proceedings.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Oregon State Police arrested a 17-year old Molalla-area boy Thursday afternoon for a number of sex abuse charges.

OSP Spokesman Greg Hastings says the arrest relates to a criminal investigation of alleged sexual misconduct involving some members of the boy's high school basketball team during a December 2006 road trip.

Thursday at approximately 12:12 PM, OSP detectives and a trooper arrested the juvenile suspect at Molalla High School.

Sex Offense Suspect Arrested by Stayton Police in Sublimity

The suspect, John Alvin Taylor, was arrested at his residence without incident.

(SUBLIMITY, Ore.) - A man suspected of sexual abuse at a retirement center in Sublimity was been arrested by Stayton Police today, after an investigation that began on September 30th, 2005.

Stayton Police say that at that time, they received a report of a possible sexual offense which is alleged to have occurred at Marian Estates, located at 390 Church Street in Sublimity.

The reported victim was a 70 year old resident. The reported suspect was an employee of Marian Estates.

Linn Deputies Arrest Five After Serving Warrant

They were arrested in a variety of charges relating to Methamphetamine.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Linn County Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant for narcotics this morning in Albany. Sheriff Tim Mueller says his deputies were assisted by members of the Linn Drug Task Force, as they searched the residence at 3016 Grand Prairie Rd. SE, Albany.

Five suspects were arrested and investigators say Methamphetamine, scales, packaging materials, drug records, drug paraphernalia and stolen property were recovered..

Barn Fire in Salem Quickly Knocked Out

Fire experts say this should serve as a reminder as we enter the hotter months that drier conditions, cause landscape and structures to become much more flammable.

(SALEM) - Salem Fire crews were called out to a structure fire Thursday afternoon at 3:56 PM. It happened at 4587 Orchard Heights Road NW.

The initial response involved a ladder Truck, Tender, Medic Unit and a Battalion Chief.

Fire Department Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says it happened in a barn. "When firefighters arrived on scene, they reported flames coming out the side of the roof. The first alarm assignment was reduced to a two-engine response."

Body Identified As Missing Keizer Woman

The investigation into this suspicious death continues.

(KEIZER) - The Keizer Police Department has positively identified the deceased subject who was found in the 8500 block of Windsor Island Road North on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at about 2:15 PM as 36-year old Leslie Diane Kaltenbach.

Ms. Kaltenbach was a divorced mother from Salem who had two teenage children, a son and a daughter. According to reports, she always made visiting with her children a priority – something that had not happened since her disappearance.

She was supposed to have visited a family member in Oregon City on the night of April 4th, but never arrived. Family members contacted the Keizer Police Department on April 18th at 10:50 AM to report her as missing.

Oregon Senate Passes Bill Taking Aim at Practice Considered One of Factory Farming`s Worst Abuses

By a two-to-one margin, lawmakers approve measure prohibiting the use of "cruel crates" to confine breeding pigs.

(SALEM) - The Oregon State Senate approved a measure today prohibiting what has been called one of the most abusive practices in factory farming: confining breeding pigs in metal gestation crates so small the animals can’t turn around for months on end.

This is a similar practice to veal production, where baby cows are fixed in position and denied mothering to keep the meat soft and valuable.
