Chemawa Indian School Evacuated

The loss is estimated at $500. There were no injuries reported.

(SALEM) - Entrance to Chemawa Indian School A fire alarm at the Chemawa Indian School East of Keizer Sunday morning led to an evacuation of students who live in the school's dormitories. Salem Fire crews rolled to the scene at 3750 Chemawa Road NE at 5:22 AM.

Fire Department Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says that when firefighters arrived, they had smoke throughout the structure.

(SALEM) - Swimming ducks Just in the shadows of our Oregon State Penitentiary along State St. is a gathering place for ducks and geese who have not run a-fowl of the law. These non-jailbirds inhabit the undeveloped park area along the refreshing Mill Creek.

Families flock to this spot to gaze at these geese and gander, whose meanderings are friendly and warm.

The waterfowl congregate as social beings, coming for handout bread to nibble and to watch the welcome spectacle of people attempting to demonstrate signs of intelligence or some semblance thereof.

Salem Structure Fire Considered Suspicious

(SALEM) - Scene of Salem, Oregon fire 4706 Salem Fire Investigators and Salem Police Arson Detectives sahy an early morning fire was Arson.

Saturday at 02:42 AM, a first alarm assignment responded to a Structure Fire at 2580 Phipps Lane NE (Link 1).

Fire Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says that as firefighters arrived on the scene, "they had flames shooting from the rear of this single story vacant residence. The fire was contained to the rear portion of the structure by firefighters."

It began after O'Reilly singled out a fatal drunk driving incident in Virginia and attributed the problem to the offender's immigration status.

They were talking about Alfredo Ramos, a man charged with manslaughter and suspected of being drunk when his car crashed into another in Virginia Beach one week ago. Two teenaged girls were killed. Ramos, a Mexican who has been in the United States seven years, allegedly entered the country illegally.

Clackamas Sheriff Identifies Deceased Female Found in Molalla River

(OREGON CITY) - 55-year old Donna Laverne Schmidt The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office has received confirmation, in cooperation with the Oregon State Medical Examiners Office, that the deceased body recovered from the Molalla River earlier this morning is positively identified
as 55-year old Donna Laverne Schmidt.

Donna Schmidt was formally reported as a missing person on March 22nd by her husband, Mark Irvin Schmidt, to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.

Office Destroyed by Fire in Salem

Due to a large amount of combustibles inside and outside the trailer the fire spread quickly throughout the structure, however firefighters knocked down and extinguished the fire within the first 15-minutes of arrival.

(SALEM) - fire scene Salem Fire Department crews were alerted to a commercial fire Friday afternoon at Airport Steel, located at 2611 22nd Street SE.

Workers there reported smoke coming from the 1970's trailer that was used as an office.

Fire Department Spkesman Bill Holmstrom says that when firefighters arrived on scene, they discovered black smoke coming from the structure.
