Killer Whales Expected on Central Coast in April

Last year, the killer whales lingered until the middle of July.

(NEWPORT, Ore. BeachConnection.net) - killer whales It’s a little known aspect of whale watching on Oregon’s coast, but the middle of April is also orca season; usually in the Depoe Bay and Newport areas, but often seen from Cascade Head all the way down to Florence.

The killer whales are what are known as “transient” whales, meaning officials don’t know where they come from. They’re also more predatory, living off seals and baby gray whales.

Morris Grover, with the Whale Watch Spoken Here program, says these are smaller and more shark-like in appearance than what are nicknamed the “friendly” whales, which visit here from the San Juan Islands and live on salmon.

Pair Wanted in Oregon on Child Porn and Sex Abuse Charges Arrested in California

Blacksmith and Evans were contacted in Oregon, and found in possession of multiple child pornography images of adults engaging in various sexual acts with young children.

(PASADENA, Calif.) - operation falcon photo On March 27th, Pasadena Police Officers arrested Robert Lee Blacksmith, age 40 and Chad Lewis Evans, age 19 on child pornography and sexual abuse charges.

Investigation by detectives at the Salem Police Department led to the identification of an additional twelve year old victim, in Florida, who had been exploited by the pair.

Armed Robbery Suspect Sought in Albany

There were no other patrons in the business at the time of the robbery and the suspect left the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Suspect from armed robbery 4607 in Albany, Oregon Albany Police responded to AJ's Haus at 1129 SE Santiam Highway early this morning on a report of an armed robbery. The lone employee on duty at AJ's Haus, a local tavern/lottery retailer, told police she had been robbed at gun point shortly after 7:00 AM.

The employee told police that the suspect entered the business armed with a handgun and demanded money.

The suspect was in the business for approximately two minutes during which time he ordered the employee to open the store safe. There were no other patrons in the business at the time of the robbery and the suspect left the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police Recovering Body From Molalla River

(MOLALLA, Ore. ) - death investigation photo The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is investigating the reported discovery of a human body submerged in the Molalla River; between S Adams Cemetery Road and S Dickey Prairie Road, in Molalla.

At 6:30 PM Thursday evening, a local resident in the area reported to Sheriff's witnessing what appeared to be a mannequin or human body submerged in the Molalla River.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office personnel responded to the scene – in the general vicinity of 34415 S Molalla Forrest Road, in the Molalla River.
