Legislature Cult-Conflict Continuance Threatens Realistic Progress

(SALEM) - Both so-called political parties still active in Oregon promised their constituent remnants --and all other Oregonians-- that this would be the session at which cult-driven political confrontation would assuredly be abandoned.

Longtime Albany Landmark, Woody the Duck, Removed from Waverly Lake

Nobody knows what Woody's owner will do with the bird.

(ALBANY, Ore. ) - Woody the Duck, the floating 6-foot, 350 pound replica of a male duck made of polyurethane foam, was removed from Waverly Lake, located just off of Pacific Blvd, over the weekend by his owner Mike Briggs from Albany.

Albany Parks and Recreation Director Ed Hodney says he is going to recommend to the park commission on Wednesday that Woody be decommissioned because the bird, which had been floating on the lake since 1984, has been damaged and tarnished by winter storms, and bird droppings.

Woodburn Mother Cited After Daughter is Arrested for Tagging

The mother was cited for failure to supervise a minor committing a graffiti violation.

(WOODBURN) - A Woodburn mother has been cited by police after her daughter was arrested last month for tagging a Woodburn business.

Woodburn police say they found graffiti on the Withers Lumber building on Young Street.

Officers later spotted two teen girls, ages 15 and 16, walking near the scene with spray paint and a knife.

(SALEM) - From Saturday to Monday night, Salem police responded to twelve reports of stolen vehicles throughout the Salem-area.

Lt. Dan Deitz says so far police have recovered two of the stolen vehicles, and made two arrests, and there were no reports of stolen vehicles overnight.

He said of the stolen vehicles, three were Honda’s, and three were pickups, none were the result of people warming their vehicles up. One did however have the keys inside.

Oregon State Police Announces Increased Recruitment Efforts

The Oregon State Police, like many other law enforcement agencies in Oregon and around the country, have many career opportunities now and potentially down the road.

(SALEM) - Faced with current and upcoming vacancies, law enforcement recruitment challenges, and the possible addition of trooper positions this Legislative session, Oregon State Police Superintendent Timothy McLain announced the Department is undertaking an unprecedented recruitment effort called OSP Project 200.

"OSP Project 200 is a plan developed to successfully create the internal capacity to recruit, hire, train and deploy qualified applicants for projected career opportunities with the Department during he next three years,' said Superintendent McLain.

(SALEM) - A bill backed by House Democrats to improve the nutrition of food sold in Oregon schools passed the House Tuesday with broad bi-partisan support.

New Veterans Home Passes First Test

A critical part of HB 3009 would waive the requirement for a Certificate of Need from the state because supporters believe it would be an expensive and lengthy process.

(SALEM) - While Congressional leaders and the Governor spend the week meeting with veterans and their families about support services, new legislation to create a second veterans home in Oregon is headed for a vote on the House Floor.

House Bill 3009, sponsored by State Representative Jerry Krummel (R-Wilsonville) was unanimously approved by the House Veterans Affairs Committee today.

The measure would allow for creation of another skilled nursing home designed especially for Oregon Veterans. The first home was constructed in The Dalles in 1997, one of 119 such homes across the country.

Man in Serious Condition After Driving off Embankment in West Salem

Paramedics say the man may have had a medical condition just prior to the accident. He was transported to Salem Hospital in serious condition.

(West Salem) - Crews from the Salem Fire Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident at Eola Drive NW and Andrea Drive NW, Tuesday at 5:35 PM.

11-Year Old Banks, Oregon Boy Dies in Crash on Timberline Road

Oregon State Police troopers from Government Camp and Portland are continuing the investigation.

(BANKS, Ore.) - Oregon State Police were notified that an 11-year old Banks-area boy critically injured Sunday afternoon when he was ejected from the pickup his mother was driving as it rolled on Timberline Road about 3 miles north of Highway 26 died Tuesday afternoon.
